Jehovah's Witnesses are a sect of Christianity that keep very close to their own - they're not allowed to have friends outside of witnesses, and the religion generally controls every aspect of its members' lives. They meet many times a week, and have duties each member has to attend to or they'll be marked as inactive witnesses, which I guess would be very shameful in their own social circle. One of those duties is going door-to-door to sell Jehovah ('Jehovah' is a mangled derivative from YHWH, god's name as it appears in the bible. No one really knows how it was pronounced back in the day, but it probably wasn't 'Jehovah').

They've got lots of rules (check 22. and onwards), and they exert social pressure on their members to a disgusting degree. If you ever quit Jehovah's Witnesses or get expelled, other members are required to shun you, which means not having anything to do with you or even greeting you on the street. When it works, you lose all your family and friends overnight. Despite this, Jehovah's Witnesses still have one of the lowest retention rates among all religious organizations.

They're pretty gross.

Holy crap, dude. That's sounds creepy but interesting in the same time!
