I've never seen that, then. I've only seen some very minor price drops.
And yes, you could store them away on a harddrive, but that doesn't mean you've got them forever. You'd have to manage your files in such a way to always save them if a harddrive breaks or something. DVDs? Too much scratching.
As for censorship, I remember reading about a game that wasn't allowed on Steam because american pussies. But HuniePop is ok. A game where you can duck an 2 year old cat girl or something?

Steam's got some horrible practices and I can't lie and say Valve is amazing and Gabe is a god like everyone else does, because let's be honest - they suck. They give no shits about the customer. We've got terrible region rules, terribly handled early access, nonexistence customer support as far as I've heard, faulty servers that go down out of nowhere, and the SteamPipe update which only complicated setting up a simple server.
Gog may not have that shit, but I just haven't seen much there. And they probably never will since shitty companies won't want their games there since "Ooh, piracy. I'm so scurred."
