Aha, got it. It's only a problem when the string ends with an exclamation mark!
I was doing this:
if (&temp == 1) say_stop("1!", 1);
but without the ! it works.
Also the mouse cursor (Windows one, not the Dink one) is usually always visible but in v0.96 it's flickering the whole time.
