If you don't have an account, just leave the password field blank.
Open it manually by sticking a paperclip in the little hole on the front (if it has one) and see what happens if you put a CD in. Dunno if that'll help or anything 
Does it show up in Device Manager? If so, try getting new drivers. If not, try scanning for new hardware and seeing if it'll find and install the thing.
