The Dink Network

Hola all.

Has anybody kept an updated timeline for the overarching Dink storyline? Or did it just kind of become too difficult with so many different stories told from so many different angles? Is each D-Mod pretty much in its own stand-alone world or stand-alone series now?

I think most people have just made a sequel to the original or one that fits somewhere after his various adventures. I haven't heard of a timeline before but it's not that much of a bad idea, you wouldn't be able to use all the D-mods but most of them should fit somewhere in Dink's history. You could even make a D-mod with it, like small scenes from each D-mod in a movie clip.

I had started one originally, years ago. But there weren't nearly as many D-Mods then. I didn't know if it was still being updated, and I couldn't find any links or info for it. Just curious. It makes sense that D-Mod authors would work independently, not part of a larger timeline. Easier that way, and without the limits of fitting your story into everybody else's.

I liked the timeline, even without real continuity it would be interesting to look at what point authors set their dmods to take place in.

But yeah, it died off years ago, mostly because half the dmods on the timeline didn't exist I guess.

Yeah, we gave that up a long time ago... like you said, it's just too much work to keep them all straight, though we do have a few mods that build off the lore of others.

It would be cool to take a look at the timeline again though. Is it still lingering somewhere?

I have it on my hard drive someplace, I'm sure. I'll hunt for it. It's a good point that many of the games were never finished.

I've been going by "Merk" lately, moreso than "Wyndo". It's short for "Sidney Merk" which is my name as an anagram.

It looks like the Dink Smallweb pages are still there -- I just moved them off to a different area since I stopped updating and maintaining it.

The original timeline is there. I *think* it's the latest version, unless it was updated after I stopped. Somebody else would have to answer that. At any rate, it's an interesting bit of history.

Yeah, we had a more recent version for a time at the DN, but it was discarded years ago reasons already stated in the thread. If Dan doesn't have it, I'm pretty sure it's lost.
