Re: Lamps in Blender

I'm in the process of creating some new tiles for Dink in Blender, (by creating a rectangular prism and simply setting the camera to face straight down at the surface) however I'm having a problem. I've tried tweaking numberous options, but no matter what I do to there always seems to be some dropoff at the edge of the square where it gets darker than the center, creating a nasty overly tiled-looking effect. I'm using a spotlight (180 degrees), set to render no specularity on the affected object. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?

Don't you know it Tal, my chunky love slave. lol

Unfortunately, my experience to using Blender is too limited to be of any use on the question.

Look at the datestamps. There could have been an overlap. I know I tab open all the comments when I go to the board, so I could reply as late as 30 min after I last refreshed the comment page.

What sort of lamps are you using?

Try the "sun" or "hemi" option.

Or alternatively make the texture on the ground "shadeless" in the materials panel.

I'm pretty sure I was using a 'sun' lamp... I guess I could try turning 'shadeless' on as well though. I ended up just loading the image into the GIMP (also trying to learn that... LoL.) and applying a blur filter, and some kind of filter that made it tileable. So, the concrete tiles are good to go!

I'm still interested in getting Blender to do what I wanted it to though, if nothing else, just for scholarship, so I'll try to screw around with that a bit more tomorrow maybe. Today is "Completely Redo All Of The Scripting That I've Done Already Because When I First Started I Didn't Realize 1.08 Had Added User-Defined Functions" day. *Groan* Well, that and it's extremely sloppy, and I've figured out a better way to do just about everything. Ha.
