HELP!! It happened again to me!! I went to open my DFarc2 on my desktop and it's BLANK . I have a butt-load of DMODs loaded & Dink 1.08 is loaded, but the D@#* DFarc keeps failing so I can't play. This has happened twice now and the last times I had to redownload Dink & all the DMODs I love to play, which is a lot cause you guys rock. I've tried everything I can think of to do, I really, really don't want to keep having to redownload. Can anyone help a Gal out , PRETTY PLEASE!!

p.s. My last post was "LOST & RELOAD", I already tried the suggestions there

The only thing I can think of is that you have too many DMODs installed, but I thought that limitation was lifted in DFArc2...

So deleting some DMODs might help, though I'm not really convinced of this...

Yeah, I tried that already, no go. It is so weird . Three days ago it was working fine, all my DMOD's were there, them poof, gone, they don't show up in DFarc2. They are all still in my Programs, "Dink Smallwood" folder. I only have Dink/Mystery Island showing on the DFarc. I tried the trick of starting Dink game, then closing, still nothing .

In DFarc2 under "Edit" "Options", Dink.exe is checked. I also tried to check the "Override, selected the "Dink Smallwood' folder, still nada. Any more suggestions, I am losing what mind I have left & certainly don't want to re-download all the DMODs again - UUUUGGGG

That is very strange.

When you have Dink or Mystery Island selected, what does the status bar say?

Also, checking the "List all subdirectories as D-Mods" option in the Options window might help, too.

The status bar shows Dink/Island to be OK. I checked to "List all subdirectories" & they come up looking like "pq\" with no info or pic. I can click to play & they will - THANKS!

I hate the way they look now, but I guess it's better than nothing , not unless anyone else has an idea as to why this is happening and a way to fix

Hmm... do the dmod.diz still exist for each D-Mod? That's what DFArc2 looks for to realize 'hey, this is a D-Mod'.

I did a search and found that Dink/Island have the dmod.diz within them, but none showed up for the DMODs I have downloaded. Can I copy this into my DMODs or can you give me some direction on how to fix

I wonder why this happened when they where working perfect one day and then the next they are possessed, spooky

p.s. I have scanned & don't have a virus or anything. The only thing I have done recently is upgraded from Windows Me to XP SP2, but the DFarc2 was working great after that.

The most accurate way to fix it would be to re-install the D-Mods, but from your previous posts it doesn't sound like you save the D-Mods around for very long.

Dmod.diz files are just text files, and DFArc2 reads in the first line of the file and lists that as the title of the D-Mod, so you could manually create those files... but it is probably more trouble that it is worth.

It almost seems like your virus scanner could be deleting the dmod.diz files, but I'm not sure why it wouldn't touch the files for Dink or Mystery Island.

Ah, I know. Some disk cleaning programs delete diz files. Remove that extension from the list of files to-be-removed at a cleaning session and it won't happen in the future.

Thanks DaVince . You are correct, my System Mechanic included diz files as Junk, and was wiping them clean. I can't believe I didn't think of that - DUH

redink1 - As for why Dink/Island were not wiped out, I re-downloaded Dink (Patch) thinking that might fix my problems, so the diz files were re-added. My goodness the things we learn

Thanks all, won't make that mistake again
