how do i beat the bonka thingy? im so bad at dink smallwood
You just have to hit it once, run away (not off screen though, as this will heal it) and repeat until it's dead.
Try letting the bonca approach you, before punching as it gets approx. the width of your finger tip away from Dink. Then run away, and try again.
Other than that, I can't offer much advice.

For some reason I prefer to attack bonca's from the left. For some reason I find it easier that way to determine the distance Dink will be able to hit from.
It's just a matter of feel though...(or a strange habbit)

I also prefer to fight from the left... maybe we should hook up? 
Left... Right... As long as it isn't from beneath.
funny you mention that since most of my attacks on boncas come from the left as well. It just feels a lot easier that way.
Hitting a Bonca from above is harder, I noticed. From the right it's a bit easier, seems it hardbox goes a bit more to the right...
You want to be below the enemy, but attack from the side.
