Scarab Man in Boss Mode

Cloud Castle 2: Scarab

Okay, I found out why the Scarab Man is almost impossible to beat in Boss Mode (without cheating). In normal (game) mode, the Scarab Man has 600 HP if you didn't beat Jameil, and he has 1600 HP If you beat Jameil (probably beacuse SabreTrout/Arik didn't want to make the game too easy, the nightmare sword is very powerful). In Boss Mode, he always has 1600 HP, which doesn't make any sense since Dink is quite weak in Boss Mode and doesn't have the Nightmare sword nor the Multi-Hellfire Magic.

So, if you want to beat him :
-Open the CC2 folder.
-Open the STORY folder ( in the CC2 folder ).
-Open the Boss folder ( in the CC2/story folder ).
-Edit the file schole.c : You should be able to find the line
&temp6hold = 1600;
Change it to :
&temp6hold = 600;

Save the file, start the game, start the Boss Mode and fight the Scarab Man again.

Much easier now, isn't it?

If you're still having trouble, try casting hellfire on the Scarab Man Scarabs when they're in the center, just before the Scarab Man appears again. If you're lucky, you might wipe out several hundreds of the Scarab Man's hit points. I think.

Wow - that's dedication .I should probably have thought of something to give the player once you beat all the bosses as a reward for beating them at higher difficulty. Then again, if I added unlockables in all the unlockables, I'd have been making the module forever.

To clarify - the scarab you do the most damage to will reflect damage onto the Scarab Man when he reforms. So you won't do hundreds of hp damage to him by hellfiring him at that moment. It's still an extremely good idea to do so as he's at his weakest in his scarab form. Not forgetting thatthe Hellfire spell is at its slowest, and therefore most powerful, when thrown into groups...

Thanks Arik. When I wrote 'several hundreds', I meant 'two hundreds'. Approximately.

Oh, and there is no screenlock when you fight Kurt in Boss Mode, by the way. I thought you might want to know. (I added a screenlock(1); line in the Kurt script to fix it). Oh, and the game keeps saying that I beat Kurt in 8 seconds and the Guardian Shield in 15 seconds. That's weird.

EDIT : Will Demolition Dink ever be finished?

Ooh, you found that did you? I thought it would be a cool thing to do with the punchable bomb idea, but straight Bomberman-type levels proved impractical. I pretty much gave it to Sabre to develop, but we weren't sure whether to make it a short comedy game or a high-score orientated one, and it finally just got dropped as it was a nonessential feature. I'm not ruling out adding it back in when I finally get another patch out though, along with an upgraded Stampede Forever. Sabre'd have to do it though

On the subject of patches, thanks for the tip-off on Kurt - is it possible to walk off the screen? The boss mode screens were made seperately IIRC, so it might not be. I really should have fixed the module up while I was still relatively familiar with it, but lazyness permitting I'll probably have another patch out over the summer. If you find any more bugs (and I know there are quite a few in there) just let me know.

Well, if you insist...

1. Yes, it is possible to leave the screen while fighting Kurt. In this case, you are stuck and won't be able to go back.

2.You can't get the water bottle in the slayer shapeshifter's house in the oasis, and thus you cannot get the map of Salamak from The Watcher in town.

3.The Fabian, Alessa, and Dertin scripts are missing a }. This might prevent you from solving the Fabian subquest.

4.It is possible to solve the Dertina subquest several times (You can get endless experience from this).

5. In the Temple of the Ancients, on the third floor ( the one with the duck statues ), in the library, you can only read the books if the Boncas are alive, not if they are dead. That doesn't make much sense ( If you try to read them while the Boncas are dead, Dink will say something like 'Too many monsters !' or something like that. That should be backwards).

6. The Goblin village is weird to say the least. Sometimes, after solving the 'Tomb' main quest, you can enter the Goblin Village. The Goblins are still alive but they say nothing, they do nothing, they're just wandering around. They don't even attack you.

7. After freeing Cthilmor, a live goblin can be seen in the Goblin Village. Shouldn't he be dead? (NOTE : This may be outdated, you might already have fixed this bug in the latest version, but I don't think so)

8. Kurgor does nothing if you attack him after the Scarab 7/Goblin meeting. If he sees you, you're dead because his guards will kill you, so this is not of utmost importance. I just thought you might be interested.

9. Dink does not freeze when talking to Paul Pliska, but nobody cares, I suppose. .

I'll let you know if I find more bugs.
