Three New Heroes ( suggestions )

I've almost finished tnh map 1...

Here are the requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

· P166 MHz Processor

· Windows® 95 / Windows® 98 / Windows® XP ( using Windows® 95 emulation )

· 32 MB RAM

· 2MB SVGA card

· 100% DirectX 6 Compliant Sound Card

· DirectX 6.0 or higher

· 25 MB of Uncompressed Hard Drive Storage

· Keyboard and Mouse

Recommended Requirements

· P233 MHz Processor

· 64 MB RAM

· 4 MB SVGA card

Now, I need to know... If its a good idea to add the low / high detail mode option, if not, I will dont add the option and the game will always start in high...

What happens when you select low and not high:

-Moving background dont move

-Big bmp files ( like background ) will not be used

-Animated attacks will be deactivated ( I will post a screenshot )

-Some extra's ( like flying stars ) will be deactivated

-Resize will not be used

I will add AA to the game ( anti-alias )

How will I do it?

Simple, I will edit all bmp's and allias those! The game will look better...

I will add more things... The stats screen is better than: str/dex/mag/hp...

It will be some sort of stats screen used in Fallout:

Str/dex/mag/hp/luck/per/int/end/car/agi

and some skills:

sword: %

axe: %

blunt: %

lockpick: %

etc. etc. etc.

Watch me! :D

What do you think?

Any suggestions?

you obviously don't know how dink works if you are thinking of making a low detail version. Dink will run the same if your graphics rules or suck. It all depends on how many sprites there are, and how many of them there are.

Um... huh? I sincerely doubt it... why does blurifiying everything make it look 'better'? You do know that anti-aliasing will most likely make all of the edges of the graphics have whitish spots on them... which will make things look much worse.

And so are you going to be including all of the original Dink graphics with your D-Mod, just anti-aliased? Talk about a waste of space...

You, may of course prove me wrong, but as you've failed to prove me wrong in the past (with your other seemingly-abandoned projects) I don't think it will happen.

As for Low/High Detail Modes... I don't see a real need, as those with slower computers (around 200 mhz) don't seem to be a sizable chunk of the audience, and probably not worth the effort you'd put into it.

My thoughts exactly. The only way I could see this possibly working is if, instead of AAing all the graphics to white, you did it to the color most prevalent on the background. Of course, that would mean you could only use certain sprites on certain backgrounds, otherwise, they'll have the spotish effect redink1 is refering to; for example, AAing to white would work well for a snow background, AAing to green for a grass background, etc. But sprites AAed to white would look like crap against the green grass.

If you're gonna go through all that trouble, why not just make new graphics and use a better color pallete (personally, I'm not fond of Dink's). At least then all the extra space you're gonna need could be forgiven.
