I am currently working on a spell called the ice orb (i saw some sort of spell on the dinknetwork, someone made it out of hellfire and i thought it looked like a snowball hehe)
I have come across two problems when making it,
1)I want it to temporarily freeze the sprite that it damages, but i have no clue how to.
and
2)I need some graphics, i want the orb to shatter when it hits an enemy.
plz post if you know how to make my first problem work. And if you have the graphics i need, tell me where i can get them, or submit them to:

I might submit the finished spell to the dink network, but last time i tried to send a file, I got a message back saying that it wouldn't send. It's looks really cool rite now (dink even glows a light blue when you cast it) except for the temporary corny explosion.

to freeze an enemy, put freeze(&missile_target); in the weapon's damage script. instead of making a different graphic for every possible monster exploding, why not use the red blood explosion when a monster doesnt have a standard die sequence (kill a pig to see it, yummy) make this white instead of red and bingo you have a generic shattering ice wad.
Thanx alot, i've decided i WILL release it when i'm finished, i'm working on the map to test it out on (i'm not saying it's finished b/c i may add some more enemies or trees or something). But before all that, i got a couple bugs to work out with the intro.
Make it so we can take out the fire in the fireplaces too, that would be neat

First of all i'd like to respond to that last comment, That would be pointless, but cool, thanks for the idea. i think i'll do it. i can think of two ways to do this, the same way the fireball checked for trees(i'll probably just copy and edit it), or check for a script. i remember there being a script called fire.c or something, it would be mandatory for your fieplace to have this script attached to it. i'll use one of these ways, probably the 1st one, i'll announce it right after i get it working right.
Second of all, i'd like to say that i'm pretty much finished with the map and scripts for the spell test, kinda lacking detail (the only sprites other than the monsters are trees), but, who cares? its kinda big (i kinda got carried away) but hopefully its not too big.
oh yea, the scripts will be in .c for you to edit if you want. so basically all i have to do is fix the explosion graphics, and tweak the orb. i should release it within the next couple of days.
Lastly, i think that i should make the spell freeze only brain types 9 and 10 (and mabe the duck and pig brains) so you cant freeze sprites that aren't monsters. if you wanted to use this in your dmod and are concerned about freezing npcs, just make make them use brain 16 or something.

if you want you could send me the file for some finishing touches, then ill send it back to you for the finishing finishing touches, it would be a lot easier than trying to explain it without seeing how youve got it all coded and it would probably take like 2 seconds. i have experience with some pretty wacky dink scripting.
I just sent the files to joshriot and i'll release it when i get it back and put the finishing touches on it.
The map seems to be 100% complete, so the only thing needed to be done is the scripts for the orb, which should be finished soon with help from joshriot. Hopefully it will be released by the end of this week.

Yeah he sure is a "nice" guy

just got it back from joshriot, haven't even checked it out yet (crappy computer can't operate dink and be online at the same time) imma check it out tonite, mabe make some changes tomorrow, and will probably release it on the weekend
I just checked it out last night and joshriot really did an amazing job. Thanks again joshriot. Only one thing left to be done. okay, the orb freezes enemies when it hits...perminantly...I think there should be a set amount of time that the sprite stays frozen, but yet again, I am clueless, if anyone still cares about this new spell, please help out here! I should be able to send it this weekend, unless I don't get any feedback on how to solve my problem...
