In the coming months/years I hope to improve this situation. Instead of being limited to a very strict 'ranking' and gender icons, you'll be part of multiple groups. So you could have icons for releasing a D-Mod, being male, living in Australia, and winning an award (DOTM/DOTY).

Of course, the staff will have the coolest icons

forget about all kinds of nifty features, just try to get the new generation or whatever up and running if it includes even a few good improvements.... you can update it later!

Yep, that's what I meant, the new generation. I'm trying to plan out most of the stuff from the beginning so things will just work better, and one of the ideas I had was 'groups'.

You should be ranked by post count like on other forums. Of course you must also take into account any D-Mod's made and staff membership. This current "two class" system is essentially made of peasants and their King ReDink1...

I don't think post counts should be a high priority. If it was, you know the amount of crap posts that would appear? It'd grow exponentially.

I think a combination of posts made, reviews posted and files released would be a good way to "rank" people.

That's right! BRING BACK THE POINT WHORING!!

I don't think point whoring never was a big problem in this network. Rankings rule, bring them back. Most sites have a rank system based on the number of posts, and they have no bigger problems with point whoring... You can always just ban those who whore.

The problem is people are generally conditioned to tie their self-worth with a silly ranking, be it grades in school, post counts, or the old DN point systems. If I could think of a way to create a purposefully silly system that in no way could be taken seriously, I'd contemplate creating it. Until then, its just too much trouble trying to mess with battling egos.
