Dink Network Movie D-mod production
I had an idea there. We could make movies compacted into D-mods. Like Dink Network get's some producers, and they write storyes. Then DN angages some DinkC programers to make a cut scene of it. And the "actors" will be from this Forum. For example if redink1 is a character he will have the king sprite, etc.
And how do you think?
And how do you think?

Probably anyone who would be interested in one. I actualy think this would be a pretty cool idea. You wouldn't need producers or actors. You could just make a movie just like a cutscene and relese it as a stand alone d-mod.
OR, though this may be a crazy suggestion... people could make d-mods with really good cut-scenes.
Just a suggestion.
Just a suggestion.
I've thought of something like this before (and I even released a D-Mod Movie Example), and I thought it would be a neat idea to create D-Mods that were just cutscenes.
But there wasn't much demand then, and I realized that it simply wasn't much fun creating a D-Mod that you couldn't actually play at all (insert ironic comment concerning Cycles of Evil here, if you wish).
And to try to get a group to do it ... for some reason group projects just don't seem to work very well with the Dink Community, with the sole outstanding exception being Windemere (and I truly mean that Merlin, even though it hasn't been released yet an awful lot has been completed in a group, much more than any other Dink group project has done before).
If you want to pursue it, kudos to you, but I personally wouldn't recommend it.

i HATE long cutscenes, bad idea.
if you want story, make a dmod with GOOD story. gameplay only goes so far.

Looks like SOMEONE leaked my idea for a Dinker Movie D-Mod. (For those of you who I told about it too I forgot to mention it would be mostly cutscenes...if you controlled the characters I would only have so many "controllable" and the ones you wouldnt play as would complain that some Dinkers got more "gametime")
Thats right...DINKERS!,

So are you ppl interested? For example I would be a producer and a few others and we would need some ppl to "program" the movie in DinkC
would that be considered machinima, the thing advertised in the worst ad ever up there??
I don't really like the idea... I don't like long cutscenes, (unless there's a skip-button) and if I want to watch movies anyway I'll go to a movie theatre.

I've thought about this a number of times, usually when I can't stand thinking up possible scenerios for a game, and trying to anticipate all the possible variations in story that can arise once you start introducing choices.
At one stage Belgotha was going to be all cut scene as the story I had for it, I wanted to tell in a certain way. And I've got a couple of other stories/scripts that will probably just sit collecting dust unless I do some sort of Dinkcinema with them.
Oh and that machinema, hmmm I dunno. I once was involved with a project that tried to use game engines to make a multi choice movie - it failed, for a variety of reasons, one of which I beleive is that a movie is a passive experience, while a game is an active one. Two extremes that don't fit together well, sort of cancelling each other out.

Cutscene only d-mods are hard to make, I assure you. I've tried, but reverted back to a story & cutscene heavy d-mod that still incorporates some interesting gameplay. If I could do numerous cool effects and action scenes in Dink, I'd probably go for a cutscene-only d-mod, but the way things are now, I vote against it.
yeah - it was a DMOD based on a moogle like creature that I created for Sabretrout for Mythago Wood D-mod - I believe that DMOD got shelved, but I remember the graphics being used in a DMOD I did some beta testing on for Sabre... so it may appear one day...
Maybe I should just release the graphics... hmmm, add that to the things I should eventually get around to.

Yea you graphic God SimonK make some graphics. Like ppl could come with good storys, idead and be more creative. I could make many storyes. I would make a D-mod, but when I begin I loose my will to end it.

Work on Mythago Wood and Valhalla has been indefinately postponed. I doubt either of them will ever be released.
You should probably release those graphics Simon, as they are very good. Much nicer than the Spike ones, at any rate.
And most people could come up with a story that would be considered very good quality (for a d-mod, at any rate), but it's in the implementation that it is usually let down.

Hmmm, consider it done - Belgotha materials on on the upload with a couple of screen shots in case they inspire someone

How about someone joins me, and we create a movie company, like Miramax or some shoot

How about you join yourself and then release a sample of your work. No one wants to work for a company that releases crap for production.
EDIT: Microsoft aside.

The thing is in an alternate dimension Dink was stolen by Bill Gates (who produces movies) and made a full length feature about Dink's adventures. It got rave reviews and spawned horrible spinoffs.
