Da Collumn
This is the general Windmere collumn where i will attempt to poke, prod and, beat out information from the team working on Project Windmere.
First Question: How do you feel taking part in the largest source project, and biggest improvement to the original dinksmallwood to date?
Second Question: According to your road map page, estamated completion is at about April 30. The last milestone is still under progress, but overdue according to the page. It has'nt been updated in a while, so i would like to know, where are you mile stone wise, what progress youve made since it was updated, and how this effects the estimated release date.

So, where's the column? This looks like a small questionnaire to me
It's only a questionnaire if he sends it out for everyone to fill in...

Or if he, akin to the way I carried out my psychology research, simply makes up the results. Erk!

Not really. Acid rain is basically sulfuric acid: the SO2 realeased by factories blends with hydrogen (H2) and oxygen (O2) from the atmosphere to form H2SO4.
Acid rain was the main cause for many ancient monuments, like stone Egyptian pyramids and the marble-based Greek temples, to disappear. Sulfur blends horribly with those two things.

Poor little Jveenhof, who we will see no more. What he mistook for H2O was H2SO4.
Acid Rain is cool in Dink though. Which is what matters.

Um... about the collumn. Screw it. Windmere is getting along nicely. A feel like an unappreciative jerk to keep sticking my nose in and going, "have yo done any, huh, have you?" Any one who wants some information can go to the site, or sign up for the mailing list for the latest updates. I do have on question though. I heard you may be releasing windmere without a map editor. whats up with that? will we be able to use the old map editor? What will there be tutorial-wise?
SabreTrout: I think the rhyme goes something more like this:
Willy was a scientist
He's a scientist no more
He confused the H2O
with H2SO4.

with H2SO4.
wow. that was actually pretty funny. did you make that up?
maybe you should do what i'm about to consider doing and submit your material directly to a staff member and see if you can earn a special spot somewhere on the site that gets updated whenever you feel like it. i plan on releasing some form of articles soon enough. good luck with yours, if you decide to continue through with it.
I know the actual rhyme (though it's Johnny in the version I heard, not Willy), and let's be honest, my version is much better.
We're probably not going to release without the new and improved super uber good map editor because we're a little pressed for time. What we're doing instead is creating a bunch of conversion tools. So yes, you will be able to use the old editor. But the new one! The new editor.. ah yes..

i believe he means compressed maps. but either way, it sounds like a great thing.
Areas on the screen that get extra light, like aroung a fire. Can be done to lighten sprites like dink when they are close to light source.
In itself it does not make for a good game, but adds detail.

Hahaha.
There won't be lightmaps for a 2D isometric game - it'd only cause problems. There probably will be a light-based hardmap system, however.

Sounds interesting, though I dunno what it would be like... But certainly interesting.
i'm just ready for it to happen. i was disappointed when i looked at the project status page though. not to say that i could do a better job. but keep up the work, you guys on the windemere team. i think we all owe a big thanks to you for this.
