The question is, how many demos have actually evolved into dmods? I know/remember only POTA... But then again I haven't been around for that long.

Any fool can use a computer. Many do. 
Hmm, shouldn't it be "Demo > D-Mod"? Just the basics of etymology I know, if a word evolves into another (like the spelling), it should be written like "word_a > word_b" if I remember correctly. Even though these words don't evolve into each other, it does imply Demo --> D-Mod.

I could say the title indicates how a demo is smaller and punier than a complete dmod, or something...

That's incredible, I never would have ever guessed a demo to be less complete than a full D-Mod. I'm impressed with your inconceivable logic
