Fire Ring Scroll/Spell

I "read" the scroll I got out of chest at NW corner of Ice Castle. It said contained mysterious words and then scroll self destructed. However, I did not "learn the words" as the wizard stated since the ring of fire remains and I have no way to "say" the words as scroll is gone.
NOTE: I "read" the scroll at the chest behind Ice Castle and based on the results would guess its been programmed only for this to occur when at the fire ring.
Sure hope this isn't one of those start over again jobs since I still need the green crystal. Am use to a scroll remaining in inventory OR a learn spell upon read then disappear and was not prepared for this type of outcome.

The scroll doesn't self destruct (well, only if you hit the chest, leave the screen before touching it and then re-enter the screen).
Check to see if the scroll is in your magic inventory. If it is, arm it and try it out on the fire trees. Any sort of fire trees. As for the magic ones... hmmm I can't remember what to do there. I thought the scroll helped them too, just that water magic did nothing to them.

Thx but after the message that it contained mysterious words (if I remember correct phrase)it did disappear from my inventory, messed around trying diff things for 30 minutes or so and just gave up and restarted a new game.
Interesting that on new game I also got the chat only option with the ice armor boy that someone else reported (could not figure out anything that allowed me to get ice armor). Guess if certain folks are not talked to in a specific sequence it causes a prob.
But have restarted new game and now played past those problem points. Nice mod and again thx for your reply.

I have another problem with this scroll: I can't even find it!
I don't understand what means these words in the walkthrough: "go behind the castle as far as you can (past a blind spot)"
What's a blind spot? Where is "behind" the castle? in the land around (on north)?

Go to the back of the castle and walk almost through (let Dink wiggle abit..lol) it at the corner. This will lead you to a white patch of snow where the magic scroll is (in a chest). A good thing to do in epic dmods like this one, is save your game at different points, then if an error is made, you just have to restart from the last saved point, rather then restarting the whole dmod again
