I have tried everything that I can think of to find the spices the cook wants. Have killed goblin and witch. Are they near the two robed figures?

you are not stuck if you have got the poison before you killed the witch. go talk to the cook.

I don't have the poison. Where do I get it? I can go back to a save game before I killed the witch.

You will need to reload from a saved game, as the witch makes the poison - you will need certain ingredients for it - all can be found, though you can buy some of a high price from the Man who sells "needful" things - loved that Stephen King reference

Oh... and there is a pile of gold which gives you an enormous amount (shall we say 400,000) plus 50 defense (It was an author help thing that he has accidently left in - find it now before it gets removed in the next patch )

You shouldn't kill the witch before she has made the poison. She is the only one that can help you on this particular quest.
Do as Desertgrl says, ask the chef and she will send you to get some spieces, then talk to some people in the town.

Yeah, I'm correcting and adding some new scripts for the next version of the game. And that wretched god-mode-gold-pile will be removed yes (because this version will not be submitted 04:00 on the morning).

Thanks all for help. I think I found the defensive potions. I'm way over fifty now and pretty hard to hurt.

At various times I have had the pumpkin, apple, shell, fish, pig feed, stone monster and wizard but I don't think I had them all at the same time when I approached the witch. Will try again. Hope I'm not missing anything.
