Upload the 1.04 CD version or not?
Before I put time into something no one wants: should I upload the 1.04 CD version that I happen to have since 1998 (and cherished all those years ), and that, as I've been told, is a rare version of Dink - or should I just leave it as it is lying in my closet?
Perhaps upload it to https://archive.org/ for other oldie enthusiasts to find as well.
Sure, why not?
I don't know if Toast (he has a few obscure Dink versions) has a copy of this version.
I like the idea of using archive.org too. The prospect of an easily accessible place where it's unlikely to be taken down is good.

I have a cracked copy of 1.04, but not an ISO of the original retail CD-ROM. Although the exe itself wouldn't work due to copy protection, there's still the intro AVIs and photos of RTSoft staff to check out.
I tried https://archive.org/ Is it true you can't upload files in folders? Since the page keeps crashing.
I have no idea, I never uploaded anything there myself...
I looked into it again, but as far as I can see you can't upload folders at archive.org, and without these it's quite useless since there are files that have the same name but are in different folders. Also, there are tens of thousands of files, so if you have had to search through all those files in order to find what you seek it would be quit tiresome, not the mention the fact that then I would have to copy all those files separately or upload them separately.
Any other suggestions as to where I should/could upload them?
Can I upload them here?

just zip it as an archive and upload it there and here.
Thank you, that did the job.

omg, such a huge button and I completely missed it I'll die in shame, then resurrect and upload.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Ah, I couldn't contribute it due to the fact that the file is over 150 MB so I tried to just fill in the form and send it without a file since it says you can then e-mail the file to a staff member, but I couldn't even send the form since it gave the message 'A filename must have an extension'. No idea what that is all about... hm... so I mailed it to Redink1 via WeTransfer. Hope I did the right thing.
Redink1 opens file. fabulous porn is installed on his PC.
How do you know the version without installing it? I inserted my CD, quickly reviewed the minimum system requirements (just to be safe), but I can't install without some type of duckery.
If there's a whatsnew.txt that can be accessed without decompressing the installer, the most recent version mentioned at the top should be whatever it is. Otherwise, if the autorun is just a conventional Windows program, it's probably 1.04 or earlier. If the autorun comes up in full-screen as a mini D-mod sort of thing however, it's likely 1.05.
@WC It's on the titlescreen. Mine's 1.04.

Downloaded? Do you mean *uploaded* to The Dink Network or what?
Btw, just downloaded the version you uploaded to archive.org. I haven't tried playing it or anything, but I like that you included pictures of the CD covers too!
Cool that there are pictures of the dev team in the goodies folder! Now we have a face to associate to Justin when we thank him for the models I wonder why Seth wanted to share pictures of his siblings too. I suppose he thought of all the Dink fans as friends, which is very cool of him!

@Drone No, I meant that I e-mailed the files to Dan via WeTransfer but he never downloaded them. I meant to send them to TDN so everybody here could download them from this site as wel, not only from archive.org, but since I saw no option of doing that, and no one else seem to know how to do it? so then I tried sending it by e-mail.
Anyway... Glad you liked that I included the covers! But yeah, since they're part of the original CD version I thought it to be nessecary.
Aaaah, yes, those faces! Love them all!
And cool that I now know for sure that downloading from archive.org actually works, so thanks for doing that!
