Thank you all so much for keeping Dink alive, I am working my way through the DMODS prefering to concentrate on the longer Quests and Epics.

Stone of Balance -Brill, Isle of Croth -Fantastic, Prophecy of the Ancients -Superb, currently playing Pilgrims Quest and LOVING it.

I just have one little thing that niggles at times. When winning hearts, food, money, keys, ship medical kits, potions etc by hitting barrels or crates or killing monsters they are 'lost' once leaving that screen. It is frustrating to hit a barrel and find a life heart, bread or ham when 'full of life' or to win a massive life heart, leave it put until needed, carry on killing other monsters on the screen, then accidentally slip off screen whilst dodging an attack and lose the hard won life.

Is it possible to make these often hard won items stay until picked up? Even if it randomly but especially if the item is an integral part of moving on in the game. (i.e. Gold key in Mini fort Quest in PQ won by hitting crate in the kitchen, Skulls dug up in SOB.)

Thanks again people, keep up your wonderful work, I would like to still be playing Dink when I am 60!

Hmm... yeah, it is possible for those items to stay. Maybe I'll release a patch that fixes it for the original game and most D-Mods (those which use the original barrel/chest/box scripts).

Static sprites that reveal bonuses should be possible using Paul's sprite trick... but enemies that leave hearts or stuff would require a new sp_x, sp_y position wouldn't they? Or maybe I'm missing something here...

Hmm... you're right. I didn't even read the part about 'enemies' when I first read it.

If the enemy just dies once (and doesn't come back), then it would be possible to have the heart stay there. I've done something like that with Initiation.

... or maybe until the won item is picked up the enemy cannot return?

Not understanding the programming side of things I realise this may not be possible but I am glad to see I have provoked a little thought.
