Don't have next gen system. Can't play it. Will buy it when I get a next gen system in like two years. Can't wait.

It's ok. It hasn't blown me away or anything. I'm not far in, though. I'm just about to get power armor, and I haven't played with the whole settlement building part yet.

1) It's buggy as hell, in usual Bethesda fashion. My wife had no eyes SHE HAD NO EYES
2) Perks being your bread-and-butter level progression is stupid. Should have just called them 'skill points'. Perks aren't cool anymore. (They weren't cool in Skyrim either. Bethesda doesn't know what 'perk' means.)
3) Everyone's saying this, but lip sync is absolutely dreadful. Such a weird problem to have. I never would have thought a small graphical issue like that could bother me; until now.
4) VATS that slows down time instead of freezing is annoying. The whole point of VATS was to capture at least a little bit of the turn-based feeling of the original Fallout, allowing you to stop to think about what you're doing. Now it's as hectic as anything else, you're just smashing buttons as quickly as possible.
5) Hit space to do a critical hit. Dumb.
6) All dialogue choices so far have amounted to 'Yes', 'No', 'Maybe', and 'Tell me more'.

When I started writing this post, it wasn't just supposed to be a long list of complaints, I swear.

For everyone who has 'show deleted posts' on, treat deleted posts like spoiler tags.

After playing the game a bit more, I gotta say it's starting to grow on me a lot more. While I don't think some of the changes they did make the game better, I can see what they were going for and it's mostly justifiable. Definitely not as bad as dumbing down all the attributes into 'life', 'magicka' and 'stamina' in Skyrim, for example.

Eh, I actually rather liked the stats being done away with in favor of skill-trees Skyrim and found the greater simplicity to work much better with an FPS-RPG rather than having lots of tiny stats influence every skill and action. The complicated way you leveled up and how it effected your stat bonuses was pretty tedious if you wanted maximize them in Morrowind and Oblivion. I appreciated that they cut out that BS.

It'll prob be a while before I pick up FO4. My own backlog of games is extensive and since it's a Bethesda game, I'll just wait until there are enough patches and mods out there to round off its rougher edges.

Good call on deleting the spoilers.

See, it was fine in Morrowind and Oblivion as long as you knew to build a custom class character whose skills influenced the attribute gains you want, but it had issues. One issue is that athletics and acrobatics are pretty much a must. You can grind points in those literally all the time and thus gain levels faster, so your options become more slim if you choose them.

Another issue is that if you want to start doing something other than what you chose, you'll suck at it and training in those skills won't give you shit. Not as much of an issue I guess since you should be able to pick everything you want, but I dunno. Armourer is sort of something you need as well.

In ducking Morrowind, you could pick alchemy and use that to gain piles of gold by making cheap fortify fatigue potions from the khajiit in the Balmora Mage's Guild by getting crab meat and kwama eggs I think and then taking that pile to the alchemy shop who has 3000 gold thus making the entire game completely broken.

But in Skyrim, the choices are unlimited. You're automatically good at everything and can choose to get some meaningless perks. That game's system really devalues any sort of careful levelling at all. You cannot duck up your character. Hit maximum one-handed? Reset it and max it again. No level cap. Want to try out archery? No problem, just buy a bow and you're set. The only thing that you aren't good at from the start is smithing, but you can spam low level junk jewelry once you get to Whiterun and sell it to the same shop you made it at. Then buy more ore, smelt it, and repeat. There's no way to duck up.

The thing I hate about morrowind is that the walking is slow as duck, the soundtrack is interesting the first hour, then it's just boring, and the fighting mecanic, which is too, boring. And let's not forget that you feel like you are glued to the ducking floor. That's how I feel when I play it. Last but not least you can get stuck very easily. For example between a group of rocks and a small hill.
Other than that, the game is brilliant. I love the idea, I love the concept. I like the armors and weapons, but I feel that it could be something better

Those are all very real flaws with Morrowind. Aside from utility spells, spellcasting was largely garbage, too. My main character was an Argonian, so my speed was never *too* awful (they start with high athletics). Getting the Boots of Blinding Speed early helps a bit with traveling if you're playing a non-beast race, especially if you find items to counteract the... eccentricities of the artifact.

I know exactly what you're talking about with most of these. The combat, however, is only horrendous because of the high miss chance and the fact spells can also fail very easily. I like the idea of of actually selecting a move by moving in multiple directions and that certainly helps with the thrust damage for spears when you're moving back a lot and stabbing your enemy.

The getting stuck thing is duck. I've had NPCs get stuck when I'm trying to escort them. The follower AI is so shitty that whenever I see the girl with the boots of blinding speed, I just kill her. I get the boots either way and those boots are the best boots. Just fortify yourself against the blinding effect and no more "walking is slow as duck".

As for the being glued to the ground, choose acrobatics as a major skill and play nude or something. I really don't think medium or heavy do anything but slow you down.

EDIT: Excellent. Striker knows of the boots too. You can't play right without them, so I must urge everyone to get it so you don't feel like you are molasses and so that you can laugh at your vibrating legs.

And there's an orc or whatever in Suran if you feel up to murdering someone for a few pieces of it. Also, stop by the House of Earthly Delights and murder everyone there since law seems to not extend to that place.

Go for heavy armor and unarmored. Some of the best cuirasses and helmets in the game are heavy armor, and who needs pants anyway?

Whatever you do, don't go medium armor.

EDIT: Also, did a thread about fallout 4 just turn into a thread about morrowind? Must not be that impressive then, this fallout thing.

The beginning of Morrowind is definitely slow, but it gets so much better. Eventually you will be able to run fast enough to distort sound, leap halfway across Vvardenfell in one jump, teleport, and walk on water.

If you like orcs, be an orc. Be a turbo-orc. Their racial power lets you hit every time, which can make some of the game's most irritating encounters entirely tolerable. Also, as goofy as it is, Orcs are the potentially fastest race in the game. That's because the weight attribute (how wide your character is at the shoulders) has a huge effect on movement speed, and orcs are the heaviest race.

About Fallout 4, virtually all the things I bitched about earlier have stopped bothering me by now; I wish I could erase that post from existence. =) Even 1) about the game being buggy, which is really surprising coming from Bethesda... after the early game I just haven't run into many bugs at all. Not a single quest bug, not a single crash. The only reasonably bothersome bug's been with the screen occassionally turning completely white, which is apparently caused by rain wetness.

Exactly.
In any case, What also made me hate Morrowind is that at the end of the game where you
(SPOILER) have to travel between that camp of dumners that make you the nerevarine and other places(END OF SPOILER),
every single time I walked like AN HOUR, with ocassional(ANNOYING AS DUCK) cliff racers. God, I hate cliff racers.
Also, I think I said it once, but I'll say it again. I DUCKING HATE GUARDS. Every time I walk past them they say shit like"Scum" or "I'm watching you, scum"and that MAKES ME FULL OF ANGER. So I save my game, go in god mode, and kill the shit out of them.

There's a mod that doubles a cliff racer each time you kill one. So eventually you get a tornado of cliff racers.

Just thought I'd let you know. But don't worry, Saint Jiub chases them away so they don't bother anyone in Tamriel ever again...until they forget they wrote that and bring them back in a Skyrim DLC.

It's funny, I never found cliff racers to be all that obnoxious. They were a minor nuisance at best since a few hits would usually bring them down, even at lower levels. Maybe it was because I didn't go into their territory much until I had spent a bunch of time in Hlaalu regions which mostly has swamp creatures.

Also, I just remembered that for a time, when Morrowind was first released, the word "Morrowind" was de facto banned from the DN because people wouldn't shut up about it. THAT'S HOW F$!@ING OLD WE ARE!! (and how awesome Morrowind was)

And it's happening again. A Fallout thread became a Morrowind thread. Soon, other threads shall follow. It is the Prophecy.

But anyways, you don't have to enter their territory. Everywhere is there territory, though I guess hills and shit have way more. Like, multiple visible ones almost all the time.

Never played the first one, but I did play Gothic 2 and 3. The second one was really good (its combat system was pretty impressive and well-balanced for the time), while 3 was pretty "meh", even with mods fixing its numerous problems.
