Le trone de fer
Does anyone here watch this show ( game of thrones ), and what do you think about it?
I don't, but I should.
I don't, but I shouldn't since I've heard most of the characters just kick the bucket, so I don't want to read a story where I can't get invested in any of the characters because they'll probably be killed on the next page. It'd get annoying.
I saw the first episode. I was really bored.
It's a very well done low fantasy show. I actually think the show's better than the books it's based on, which usually never happens. The books were good too, although getting a bit meandering with the last one I read... From what I've heard, it's even worse since, and with essentially nothing happening for entire chapters, there's a good chance the series might become the new Wheel of Time.
I agree that the show is better than books. Ive read just two of them and decided to stop. As for those who want to watch, you must be patient. First season is slow, first five episodes even more so. Too many things to remember, but after that is the best show ever. Im not even a fantasy fan.
Read the books years before the show aired. Both are really good and I feel like show and the books sort of expand on each other. Both have different flaws, but I've enjoyed them immensely. The books seem to reach their zenith in quality around the 3rd, while show still seems to be going strong with a few exceptions.
My sister showed me a scene in it where a big guy gouges his opponent's eyes out after knocking out all his teeth and then smashes his head in. Never before, never again.
That is the most disturbing scene in the entire show.
Edit:
That is the most disturbing scene I've ever seen.

I only saw the first episode. Got to the bit with the little girl nailed to a tree and I noped out of the whole series.
Sounds violent and gory for the sake of being violent and gory with no real purpose outside of seeming more "mature" because it's so so violent and gory.
Does the show or the books do anything else? Sounds like a boring story if there even is much of one outside of "MEANY KID KING KILLING PEOPLE!! HAHAHA. AND THEN 54 CHARACTERS DIE ON THIS PAGE AND THERE'S A GIRL NAILED IN A TREE AND WOAH. SO MUCH GORE!!"

It's the series with the boobies?
I mean.. I played MK all my life so gore is not THE problem....*AHEM* *AHEM*

There is no violence just for the sake of violence. You should watch before you decide. As for sex and other stuff, well just turn on the tv and there it is. And why is sex still a taboo?
The US still thinks sex is gross and evil. Ever seen our tv? It sucks.
Your tv sucks on many levels. Then again, our tv sucks on many levels. Just choose on what you want to consume.
I consume none of it. It truly is the way of the future.
ok, i saw the entire show, read all the books, made the #1 fansite, created 812 theory videos each with several hundred thousand views and got all the merchandise.
i became so consumed that i met george r.r martin at a convention i put together (8000 attendance, by the way. not bad. though it's only because of my videos). he gave me the unfinished version of the final song of ice and fire book. its very good. i liked the part where jon snow died to the evil king mundograss. it was pretty sad, but holy shit was that fight epic.
but anyways, the book's coming out soon. and by that, i mean soon in george r.r martin time. i know the story, but the finishing touches will take at least 50 years and george is already 200. sooooooooooo...

The show's quality really dipped after it got further along than the books. And no book has been released since this thread was created... Yikes.
