Are/were you a nerd in your school subjects?
I don't mean being a nerd about video games or Star Wars. I mean about things you study in school like math, English, or history. Do you read James Joyce or solve advanced math problems for fun? Do you talk about them with your friends when you don't have to?
I was a nerd about religion and philosophy, though they didn't really teach those at my school. Actually I did have a couple of classes that were basically philosophy. I guess I was a nerd about programming too in junior high, but then I wandered away from that for a long time. And I guess I was sort of about science. Hmm, I probably could have been considered a music nerd too.
I consider "nerd" a compliment, btw.

Im not known as a nerd in school more of a weirdo I dont talk about religion but I love social studies, and math. And I would be a nerd for dink if there was a class for it but Dink is just not special enough.
I'm not a nerd, who collects really cool stuff. I'm a geek, who understands and creates really cool stuff.
I was a nerd in English. Of course, I only had the chance to study it for one year. After that, my friend started teaching me.
Learning languages is weird. No matter how rusty you are in a language, once you learn it for the first time, it all comes quite easily back to you.

Okay, well then what school subjects are you a geek about, if any?

Yeah, I bet I could relearn French pretty easily.

Literature and art.
Well, I can pick up on things really easily. Even though I've been given the option to take the advanced courses many times I've turned them down. Quite a few people expect me to take a full load of classes and get honors, but I'm lazy and don't feel like working very hard so I take the average level courses and minimal load. Just because I'm good at something doesn't mean I like doing it. I could be a nerd in any class if I actually attempted to do so. It's just much more fun to shape ski slopes out mashed potatoes.
I picked all science subjects in high school and the difficult maths class. I hated it so much I am now majoring in philosophy.
Call the cops, see if I care.

Literature and Philosophy, until I read Oscar Wilde's "The Picture of Dorian Gray" and believed.

The kind of nerdiness I'm talking about happens in your free time. I'm really asking if people here do intellectual things for fun. School is one avenue for getting into those things, and it was a convenient way to introduce the topic, but we don't really have to be talking about school at all.
What happened with me is that when I got to college, my interests expanded a lot, and now I want to go back and relearn the things I didn't take seriously the first time I learned them, like math. I think that happens with a lot of people.

What areas of philosophy are you into? Not the mathy, sciencey ones, I take it.

Would it count if you have plans to take woodshop and home ec later.
History and Anthropology. Too bad they don't teach Anthro at school. . . . . .
Oh yeah, of course history too.
Thanks for reminding me Duckhater.

I think it would count if you did a lot of woodshop and home ec stuff on your own.

I guess I'm a nerd in english and art... when I do something I like in school I can't stop working with it, I take it home and perfect it, like if I'm writing a short story or something, but when it's something I don't like I don't work hard enough :/

i was a master of drawing on assignments and turning them in.

i also majored in walking straight out the door without saying anything.
