(Capcom, after seeing that most people pirated SF4 more than buying it decided that they will NOT release the SSF4 for PC. Now you can get the Arcade Edition of this game but then it has a built in anti-piracy program that the game WON'T RESPOND TO YOUR KEYS AT ALL . Until you get a code and wait for the program to download the patch which removes this program)

When you pirate a game you are essentially stealing from the company that made it. If no one pays for the game, how does this company continue to operate?
That's right, they don't! They go bankrupt and never make another game again.

As a side note, every time you pirate a game, a baby llama dies. Think about that.

I only do it when a console shoots out and I can't play any games or if something is so old no one will give two craps if I just grab it for free. New stuff I generally just shell out top dollar for.

On the subject of that, I stay away from the used market for the most part. Sure, I'm sacrificing more money, but it's for a more quality item. It's so sad to see all the PS2s nowadays are used, so this means crappy lasers, so that's why I have a few games even on a PS2 emulator. But since PS2 is only last gen, I just transfer my hard copies over to PC for use on the emulator.

Hell, you can download any free game as long as you actually own it.

I pirate music out of respect for the artists. But games oh noes my parents would kill me if they thought I was getting a five finger discount on something more then free. It's an interesting subject really.

I like piracy too. It's good to be able to screw the MAN, in case the MAN screws me... On the other hand, I'm not a 14-year-old pimplefaced brat with a still underdeveloped sense of empathy, so I'll happily pay for stuff that I like.

I only use bittorrent when I'm getting games for the N64 or the Snes or, hell, freeware for DOS.

I barely place PC games anymore.
Consoles are 10x better when i comes to playing games PC are good for other stuff but not games.

PCs are good if you want to run your games with mods. Unless consoles can do that. I only have a PS1 and don't know much about the rest.

Piracy is good cause sometimes I find treasure chests filled with gold under X marks in the sand.

I pirate only games that I can't find digitally distributed now.
I used to pirate stuff because the shops sold us pirated disks anyway, but after getting the piece of plastic I buy the digitally distributed ones.

But anyway, I don't pirate stuff, I like supporting the companies that makes things I like, and if it isn't things I like I don't get them, because I don't have time to play games/listen to music/watch movies that are bad XD

Yeh, support the gaming industry. Good games deserves to be bought. Don't download some unsupported, modified stuff from teh internets.

I am to lazy to pirate new PC games and my connection (which I get from the library for free ) blows chunks. I mostly just pirate old console game roms for my emulators. I agree that you should pay for software when you can though. Except for Microsoft company stuff. DEATH TO WINDOWS!!

Me too. I like to think of commerce as a power struggle between producers and consumers. In my book, if merchants want to charge more than people can pay, they don't deserve customers. That makes me feel better about not being able to afford things.

I'm pretty sure everyone on this site, even those who claim to hate it, have pirated something during their lifetime.

I usually pirate things that aren't for sale anymore. For new games, I pretty much collect money until I have enough, except for games with ridiculous prices, such as the NHL game which costed 114€ when it was new.

I pirate TV shows because it's hard to get them, but I eventually buy the DVD sets ounce I can.

As for games, I've downloaded the odd one, but they were pretty much all old games that can no longer be bought from store new.

Now, back to the topic at hand. I also support piracy of anything that the creators state they don't discourage the piracy of. EG Minecraft (Notch said he didn't mind) My Little Pony (The creators said they don't really care because the show is made to encourage people to buy the toys. Duck that)

Seriously, it's a great show (Friendship is Magic that is). It's kinda like the good ol' shows like Spongebob, It's hilarious + interesting characters.

Yes, I watch the show, but I pirated it before I liked it. My friend told me to watch it and gave me the entire series in HD, and I watched the first 5 episodes without really liking it. I then told him I didn't like it, and he made me watch them again, and said to keep my mind open. I did, and sudden;y the show was really good. I would advise others to watch it with an open mind too. If you don't like it, that shouldn't matter, but try it none the less.

But I don't really watch the show much anymore, save the occasional new episode. I just follow various fanbases. Being a fan of a fan is remarkably interesting.
