In the downtime of working on Happy Sunshine Land 2, I've been tinkering with video tutorials. I've created one for visions, but as I was sick at the time and it was the first one I had made, it needs a few improvements. It was shown only to MsDink (who requested the video), who said that it helped her, so I decided to actually make a tutorial worthy of public release. I haven't finished it yet, and I'm not sure if I will finish it, depending on community interest. So, a few questions for you guys:
1) Would you be interested in a video tutorial on visions?
2) Would you be interested in other video tutorials (most of the tutorials I have planned cover subjects with fewer tutorials already available, e.g visions)?
3) What subjects would you like to see covered in said tutorials?

Hungry, Horney, and Helpless... Take me home.
The more tutorials, the merrier. Having another tutorial to look at can be the difference between "getting it" and "giving up" in newbies. I, for one, could use any help I can get.

Possible topics:

* Dink Edit / Free Dink Edit!

I've never found a tutorial on how to use it properly, and the result is I've never finished a dmod, because I always got stuck.

* Anything on common mistakes

That would help a lot with first timers like me. There is lots of material on how to do this and that right, but how do you tell what you've done wrong?

I second Darksign's thoughts, the more videos the merrier!

But if you want to be especially productive, you could try doing tutorials on topics that have not been done by Robj or that you feel you could bring in a different way (often a good idea too). There's never anything wrong with having double tutorials though

Looking forward to it^^

First off that video was good Pilly, very clear very precise and I loved that you got straight into it. Really good job and would love more from you!

As to possible subjects for newbies,
I think when first starting out you need to know about the &story or your dmod doesn't progress and have any depth, so for me maybe variables.

I also found so little on adding new characters (for the whole set of actions) so something on that would be great as well for future dinkers. There is so many places things need changed and for me, it was in files I wouldn't have thought on looking in, like dinfo for his death sequence - two files to change for the sword - I think that could be helpful to know where things are that effect other parts of game play and maybe we can expand on the kind of heros we have in the dmods.

if and else statements - maybe common errors people continually ask on the forum about.

Drawing hardness - not just stamping it - as sometines thats just more specific and saves hours finding the right shape, how to change the hardness for water (fireball going over it)etc. Lots left to do really

I am looking forward to some more indepth vid tuts myself because seeing it done is worth a thousand words to someone like me that had no programming experience and nothing to relate this to, so I say get into to Pilly, get that production line started and flowing .

Some things I recall having trouble with map-wise when I was new to Dink:

-making a bridge
-making the multi-story houses
-tiling the foresty trees
-tiling paths
-hardness for houses

You could throw in some tips on making detailed maps, making decent map boundaries, warps making the correct sounds, doors that play the opening sequence, etc stuff that we constantly see done wrong in DMODs that bugs me
