It's finally here...Well, sort of. It's the FIRST ANNUAL STEAM CONTEST!

So what is it?

Well, I had already decided to have the contest a Team Fortress 2 contest. The rules are as follows:

Team Fortress 2 - Kill everyone you see. The host for this server is Quiztis, so hats off to him for making this possible. *clap*. It's an arena contest too, and to make things more challenging, and longer, rather than just one round, the winner of the prize and bragging right for this contest will have to win arena twice in a row. So about Quiztis, he can only hold about 12-16 players, so let's try not to kill the server, huh?

Anyways, what are the prizes? Well, first of all, you can blame me for taking 10,000 years to think of one. Anyways, the prize is quite simple; A choice of two Steam gifts from yours truly. What are the choices? It's a surprise, but don't worry, I won't totally rip you off, they're both really good games from what I've heard.

The time! This is the hardest part. The Dink Network is obviously scattered all across the world, so how the hell is this going to work? Well, me and Quiztis sat on Steam for a while, and we have decided that this contest will take place on Sunday, the 31st at GMT-7 for me, and GMT+2 for Quiztis at 12:00PM for me and 9:00PM for Quiztis. For the rest of the world? Hey, I'm not going to figure out an exact time for every user that could be participating, because it would take a thousand years of unnecessary busy work, and I've already worked enough on figuring out the contest and the details. If you want to participate, please figure out if you can on your schedule yourself and post any details you might have on the date of the contest, or if you have any kinds of thoughts.

Summary: Sunday the 31st, 12:00 PM for me, and 9:00 PM for Quiztis. Rest of the world? Whatever time it is over there when it's time for me and Quiztis. Game? Team Fortress 2. Goal? Kill everyone twice in a row in Arena mode. Prize? Choice of two steam gifts. They're both surprises.

To find out what time the contest is in your timezone, all you need to do is go to this website, find out your UTC or GMT for your country, use the 24-hour clock, type in either 10:00PM at GMT+1 or 12:00PM GMT-7 and convert it to your timezone. Bam!

The server will start at the given time, be sure to have TF2 downloaded on Steam (it's free to play now.), possible ports forwarded and everything necessary to join a server. We won't provide the essential gaming snacks, sorry.

The server IP is 78.70.125.108:27015 and password for the server is "dinknetwork" without quotes. The server may not be listed in the server list. To connect manually you need to add -console to the start parameters of the game by modifying the properties of the game in Steam. When you start the game a console will appear. In that console, type "connect 78.70.125.108:27015" without quotes.

I got 6-8Mbit broadband which means about 1mb upload rate (hope I got that right) which should be enough for about 12-16 players. If not, the server will lag horribly and the contest will go down the drain. Let's hope that ain't happening.

There will be warm-up for an hour or so after given start time.

We won't provide essential gaming snacks, sorry.

That's why I said for people to bring it, because we won't be providing.

And if anyone's wondering, no. I will not be able to win this contest. I will just be there to make things hard for you.

I might be able to participate. A dedicated server wants space and joining your ded. server on the same computer that the ded. server is currently running is a bad idea. Maybe if the server is doing well/lag-free at around 8 players, I might fire up mah brah's compy and borrow his Steam account and join. Not sure how that's going to affect the upload though.

Fifty dollars is a lot for a prize for a friendly competition. Plus, games for consoles would cost considerably more than that, since shipping would also be a factor. He's paying money, out of the goodness of his heart, to people he's never met in real life.
