I read the walkthru and it said the 1st test is easy. Well I cannot get thru it in 50 seconds. I try and try and try and cannot possibly get close to finishing in 50 seconds. So whats the trick?

It could be your computer is slower than metas - I found it within a hairs breath of finishing - ended up *tracking the shortest path* there and then went like the wind.

Another trick (which he MAY have fixed in his update - was simply go straight back to the guard and say you were finished (you didnt have to actually do it)

Apparently that trick is fixed. So I'm stuck on the maze and cannot finish the test. So looks like I cannot continue this dmod. I can only get to the finish line but I can never make to the guard before dying.

Well you could cheat by opening the editor and removing enough of the fences to give you a fighting chance...

Do I download it into my dink program or separate? I downloaded it separate but when i tried to run it it couldn't find the dink.exe. file.

Hiya Zippy, apologies for not seeing this earlier, there is so much trolling on the forum lately its easy to miss threads at the moment. Not sure if I am the right person to try and help you - but here goes... *prays meta doesn't smite me*

The script meta uses (I think) is p2-obstacle.c - you could maybe adjust the length of time on the counter in there? Means you dont have to go into the editor at all - just open the script and adjust the &counter time (I think)

As to opening it in the editor, I don't know why but once I started using Win7, I had to click the short cut to the editor (wde+) to open any games in the editor - but after I did that, I can now access them through DFarc... Kind of crazy really and I am not sure why or even if that would help you, but it is something you can try I guess...

Also in DFarc, have you clicked the file/options/show developer buttons? Apart from that its been so long since I installed this I forgot what else if anything I did. If you can get in, last choice of fixes could be to just remove some of the fence (sorry meta) so you can continue on with the game - its an excellent game and well worth playing

Hope that helps...

Edit: Ohh sorry, the dink, dfarc, and wdedit executables (if you are in win 7) are all now under \programfiles(x86)\Dink Smallwood scroll right to the end of all your dmod folders and they will be there.
The scourger is also there and you will find the file to change in the "story" folder.

For anyone else experiencing this problem: Just press 'C' during the time trial to skip it.

This has been a known problem for a while, other DMODs (such as mystery island) also suffer from timing issues. The problem was largely fixed in v1.08 as the character speed should be independent of computer speed in v1.08. But apparently it still is a problem... And I tuned the speed on a relatively old laptop.

The 'C' button can also be used for the other timed challenges such as the fishing challenge and the reaction time challenge later. (I reckoned they would depend on computer speed too.)
