That's not American Humor. That's South Park Humor, which does indeed suck.

Yeah, South Park is the wrong show to judge all American humor by. I mean, a lot of Americans like it, but I don't, and there are a lot of shows that are cleaner. Try the US version of The Office.

South Park really is not the show to judge American humor by - though if you thought you could analyze the culture of an entire country by one animated television show, you should be having second thoughts right about now. I personally do not find South Park funny in most instances.

Some people just can't handle dark humor. We call them pussies here.

I've been trying to say that for the past year here, Striker, but I have to disagree that South Park has dark humor. It's got shootty humor, that's what it's got.

This thread really got me aroused.

South Park is a show that can be funny at times, but there are a lot of the episodes that aren't funny. It's one of those shows that show where the line of dark humor us drawn.
If you want a better example of American humor, watch the show 'The Simpsons'. It's much, much cleaner than South Park and is very funny. There is also 'Family Guy', which is like 'The Simpsons' but much darker and dirtier. There are also a lot of sitcoms like 'Will and Grace', 'Two and a Half Men', 'Friends', and many others. Just because one show that airs in a country isn't your proverbial cup of tea doesn't mean that everyone in said country watches it like a moth watches bright lights.

Really, all of the shows Krisknox mentioned have gotten really dull now. Simpsons used to be the best of the series, and it remains the best cause all the others have gone down along with it, but it has really sunk low, and reminds me of some of those horrible old Warner Bros cartoons, with their horrible humor.

Now South Park, it's always been bad, and now it's gotten even worse, which results it now being one of the worst cartoons in television history.

I've noticed that, and it bothers me. Humor in the US tends to mean "ripping into people." But it's not all like that. One show that stands out to me for being just plain silly is Perfect Strangers, which aired in the '90s.

The main reason that comedy shows are going under is because gasp! People are running out of ideas!

South park is written by canadians and is shown in Canada also, therefor, it is canadian humor. Also, I actually like south park. There are quite a few very funny episodes. Those are usually the ones that float around Cartman as the protagonist.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone are definitely not Canadian. South Park can be pretty clever, and some episodes are absolutely brilliant. It's mostly hit and miss though. Family Guy is American humour at its best.

I have not returned. I drop in several times a month just to see how things are. However the amount of retards on here usually keep me from posting. However this time I was shocked and saddened to here about Dukie...so I am lurking here a little bit more.

I still can't think of any comedy series that can top the 2nd through... oh, 8th season of the Simpsons (I usually use Phil Hartman's death as the marking point at which they begin to slip in quality). Seriously, pretty much everything in that space of time is just astoundingly funny and just packed with all sorts of different humor, subtle and over-the-top. I was always surprised to find some new hidden joke after like a 5th viewing of an episode.

I will agree that the era of Simpsons that Striker has highlighted is easily some of the best in animated, adult-oriented comedy. Virtually everything after those seasons is not worth paying attention to, unfortunately.

Family Guy is... interesting. It can be funny, and I do enjoy it, but it is too reliant on spontaneity and pop culture references. It is very derivative of itself, also. I would probably say it is the most pertinent and current example of American comedy today, at least in animation.

Also, don't be hating on Duke Nukem, Duke Nukem 3D was one of the many games that I enjoyed as a kid, not because of the nudity, but because of the Holy crap, gibs! Blood, Doom, Heretic, HeXeN, Quake, those were games that I also loved.
Also, have you ever been in America? Have you actually walked the streets of New York or took a drive through Iowa or fished off the coast of Oregon? (I've done only one of those things, having lived in Iowa my whole life, but Oregon will soon be a very real thing when I move.) Predator, you've mellowed out the last few weeks, I even started to hope that you would stop doing this shoot. Just because a show airs in a country doesn't meant that its humor is of that country. I've seen the anime 'Shuffle!' Yes, it's a harem anime, yes it can be quite perverted, but it has a good storyline. I've seen Might Boosh, a show from england that has some ducked up humor (Old Greg) but is nonetheless hilarious. I will reiterate. Not all things that are shown in a country is of that country. Another Dinker pointed out that South Park, the whole reason this topic was started, was originally from Canada. Essentially, your whole argument is null and void, now you're making an argument that was based on bad information. Sure, you've been told of a few other shows, but America is not the only country that finds crude humor funny. Look at the Japanese. The anime show, Kanokon, is very crude, very weird. One of the main characters even tries several times to make love to the main character. And don't even get me started on the origins of Hentai. (Yes, I have watched a few episodes of Kanokon, pretty interesting storyline, stupid female characters. And yes, I have seen a hentai animation once. How do people find that arousing?!)

As I have stated in previous posts, I know there were more battles before the US was involved. Yes, because the US came and helped the war was won, but it wasn't the US itself that defeated Germany.

Also, yeah, the US is pretty ducked up. Yes, there are a lot of ducked up people, but even a bunch of bad apples have a few sweet ones among them. Take me, for instance.
