If they aren't on TDN anymore just credit them for their work.

I think we're open enough as a community to get away with crediting authors for their work. Nobody expects you to find Gary Hertel or Simon Klaebe to ask for permission

Agree with Kyle... I think everything here is kind of assumed to be 'open source' unless stated otherwise. Make sure to read the readme of the D-Mod you want stuff from because some people do say you should ask them first.

Plus it's always nice to ask anyway. Some old dinkers still have working emails - I've contacted SimonK, Raven, Paul Pliska for example (and Redink1 ) before now.

Same thing with scripts?

Don't steal scripts, learn from them and recreate

Unless it's for a specific system, I think it goes by the same moral rules.
