Silent Hill!
Just downloaded this game from EmuParadise. I absolutely love dark scary crap, so I thought I ought to try it. On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary was your experience(1=lowest, 10=highest)?
The only Silent Hill game I played was Silent Hill 4: The Room. Now, let me tell you: It was more frustrating than scary. The graphics and controls and sound effects were terrible, and it was mostly a rip-off of Resident Evil 2, without the fun. I ended it within two weeks because I had nothing to play. It seemed scary in the opening level, but not later in the game. So I gave it 3. Now ... Resident Evil 4, that deserves 10!
Don't get scared from games. So meh.
Try Amnesia: The Dark Descent and you'll change your mind.

*Sniff* Smells like piracy *sniff*.
What happened with the moral, Absolution?
Roms maybe doesn't count as piracy? I don't know really.

I think romming a game is legal if you actually own a cartridge or similar of that game and keep it to yourself, but it's illegal to distribute it.

Try playing F.E.A.R, you'll shoot brix.

Rofl, I get more scared of the absence of bananas than videogames.
I don't download games from sites that specialize in the distribution of large scary birds.
ROMs and ISOs are legal; EmuParadise bought the games and they are approved for download by the original companies.
Ehh, the original companies approve? Still, YOU have to own a cartridge of the game, then it's "legal".
Nope; Just gotta have the proprietor of the download to own the game when it comes to ROMs and ISOs. Besides, ROMs and ISOs aren't even the exact game.
ROM's are the subject, ISO can jump off a cliff. The creator of the rom owns the game and if you don't own the game yourself it's "illegal" to download the rom.
There is no financial loss to the game's makers if I download the ROM file of some game I wasn't about to buy anyway. Illegal or not, I don't see anything wrong with it.
I always pirate games. I don't think I bought a game in years
A sad symphony to my ears. Good games deserves to be bought.
Quiztis, good games are hard to find anywhere nowadays, except in some "illegal" websites.
A good game I recently bought is Super Meat Boy on Steam, it is finally available and it roxorz! Check it out!
What illegal websites?
What illegal websites?
Oh my god >_<
First of all, ROMs and ISOs are always illegal. They are even illegal when you own the game, because it is not a carbon copy of YOUR game. Having said that, it's considered "fine" by most companies and the law system if you own the game. So, I have no idea what crap you've been reading, but it's not even near to legal.
Second, I think you should always support a developer of a game you really like. Even if you pirated it and finished it already, buy it if you liked it. It's not a conscious clearer, but it's at least some way of making up for pirating.
Now, onto Silent Hill. I haven't played any of them for more than an hour except Shattered Memories for Wii. I loved that one to death for its amazing story (trust me I don't quickly call a story amazing or even good these days). Now, it's not as scary or gory as other horror games, it's more of a psychological thriller.
The only game series I have always found profoundly terrifying is the Fatal Frame (Project Zero) series. Jeez those are scary to the point I don't want to play them by myself >_>

No, ROMs and ISOs are legal as long as the original companies okay it, and vise versa. EP has been around 10 or so years; It would have been long gone if it was an illegal project. Trust me, these things can get found pretty damm fast.
Also, Kyle, you're in Belgium, so it may be very different than here.

Sometimes companies release games as freeware ie: Grand Theft Auto 1 & 2, Red Alert, Command and Conquer and The Elder Scrolls: Arena. Although I personally feel that using ROMS is bordering on piracy, I also realise that the majority of ROMS and Emulators are old, no longer available consoles/ games, so ROMS are hardly a threat to the big game companies unlike ISOs of games such as Sims 3 or Dragon Age, which lost millions of dollars to piracy.
Now, to say piracy is ok coz you probably wouldn't have brought it anyway is pure bullshoot. You probably would have shoved it done your' pants if torrents or rapidshare didn't exist... I would've (past tense)
Think about it: Dragon Age comes out, costs $99. You look at the game and it's trailers and think it looks cool. Now, you don't want to pay for the privilege of playing the game, so do you simply never play a commercial game again?
If piracy simply didn't exist but you didn't want to pay for a game, you might borrow a friend's copy, steal from a store or coerce your' family into buying it for you, or protest to the company about the high price - two of those options are illegal, two unlikely to be successful. If you're like me, you just wait 3 years then grab Mirror's Edge for $2 from Dick Smith's Clearance basket

I love that clearance basket! As well as the collection of older games at EB Games, I got 4 games in one pack for %10 once and they were untouched PLUS only a year old.
On the view of piracy, I'm only in agreement about ROMs themselves because of the availability of the consoles themselves, let alone the actual games, thanks to the word obsolete. Though I tried to bid on a Sega Genesis once but missed out on it.
As for Silent Hill; Not a bad game series, but not as scary as it leads you to believe.

I <3 Pyramid Head
The film with amnesia that you showd made me shake
Oh sh!t! I have a bag of Milky Ways!
Hehe, love that game. I wish it was longer though.

Hmm.... so downloading dink is considered pirating/illegal? I THINK NOT
