The Dink Network

Yeah, I've been working on my website for a while now. It is not any masterpiece, but it is a pretty good one for a start of a website. I'll be mostly posting news about my current game projects and stuff, but you can probably find something random and silly stuff every now and then.

The website doesn't have forums yet, but you can post on the comments of the news. I'm working on the forums though.

What happened to the Dream Factory?

Hehe, somebody actually remembers it. It was called The Legend Factory, actually. And I don't actually believe it's dead, there just hasn't been anything update worthy in a LOOOONG time.

But how about my new site now lol?

I don't think the Dink Smallwood community is really large enough to maintain two forums. It has been tried before, and it never really worked out. So I'm being a bit pessimistic about this one. On the bright side this site does look decently right now, though I don't particularly like the background.

I really think your site should have a specific point why it is worth checking out. Just posting news about your own DMODs probably isn't enough to get people to check out your site regularly. News is a bad idea in any case as you'll have to have multiple news items per week to let the site be worth checking out, which is just a lot of work.

Maybe you should develop it into a blog with a couple of other dinknetwork members? Providing background information is probably the best idea for a dinkrelated site. Unless you're going to link to your site every time there is news, like Wesley is doing (or was doing) with his site.

Any way, good luck with the site. Hope it'll end up a little bit better than the Legend Factory's site...

Meta, I think you got it wrong. This isn't anyway Dink-related site. This just has a lot of news about my D-Mod and stuff, seeing as I mostly hang out here. This website is about me, in a non-selfish way. And obviously when I happen to make a D-Mod, I'm going to post some stuff about that, seeing as it is the most interesting thing going on for me at the moment.

Fair enough.

My points still apply though. If you want people to check your site you need to have stuff in there that's worth checking. Though for personal sites you might have different goals.

It looks lairght, I don't know whether the design fits in or not yet, but it's still pretty good. Looks like you've used a website creator or content manager of some sort.

Dude, change that background, or the text, or something. Having to highlight everything you want to read is really rather user-not-friendly.

I think the skull background is great.

The site is probably glitching up for you, the text should be on a grey base.

And that grey base is on a background made up from 'skulls'. Which would have been better if just grey.

Well, I can see how it doesn't fit the rest of the theme or anything. But I think it's cool in a jovial way, it made me smile.

Nice site - and I love the background Well done you!

I reckon, if you changedteh blue glow on the skull to an orange or yellow one, it would fit in much nicer, but then it wouldn't be the same. Or maybe change the theme from yellow to blue. It looks good the way it is though, but yeah, the skulls don't seem to fit in with the rest.

Looks quite nice, I don't know if I hate the background or love it.

I think Freewebs.com changed name to Webs.com not too long ago. Anyway, nice site.

The website is now updated with a new outside appearance and it now has forums!!

Some simple CSS to do that, I assume a repeating background image on a div that has a 'fixed' position or something?
