The Sims and other simulation games
Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum but have been a passionate player of the Dink Smallwood game and DMODs for quite a while. I usually prefer to play simulation games like The Sims, SimCity games and Zoo Tycoon as well as adventure games and detective stories like "Blade Runner".
However, when I first came across Dink Smallwood I wasn´t sure if I wanted to insted it (it is a rather large file). But when I started playing and especially once I got the hang of it, I was completely addicted and play it more often than any of my other games.
That aside, I do play on The Sims quite often and wondered who else here is a Sims fan and what other games related to simulation, adventure games and detective stories do you like to play?

'Tis nice to know that you like Dink. I hope you're here to stay.
I've never played The Sims, but when I find the Deluxe edition at a reasonable price, I'll pick it up. It's a bit too expensive for such an old game, IMO.
In fact, I don't play many simulation games in general, but I do like adventure games. I'll list a few off, in no particular order.. Full Throttle, the Monkey Island series, Sam & Max, The Dig, Space Quest, Day of the Tentacle, Grim Fandango.. etc., etc.
Well, if you'd like to see my collection of games, you could look here.

Simcity games are kinda good, I played simcity 3000 for a pretty long time, but then I made a perfect city and there was nothing more to do in it.
I've played a demo of sims, and well, didn't really like it.

I'm confused. The Sims is "such an old game"? There's a demo of The Sims? Are you sure you're thinking of the right game?
In reply to Valderra, I played The Sims a fair ammount though I haven't played much lately. I played Sim City and SimCity 2000 back in the day was well.

Well.. it's not an ancient game, but The Sims does date back to early 2000, so I personally find it bothersome that it's still priced at $40-50. I'm a poor guy, though.
And as far as I can tell, there is no demo of The Sims.

Hi Tal
Although I don´t know you, your name, like many others´is very familiar to me due to the fact that I have visited this site so many times before and downloaded the dmods.
Wow, that is a lot of games you´ve got there. I have about a hundred games myself. I used to play on the SNES and Mega Drive, oh those were the days... but now I only play on my computer. Nice talking to you.

Hi there Scratcher
Yes, I know what you mean. There is only so much you can do with SimCity games and it does get quickly boring. I tend to start a city and after about an hour demolish it and start again. I have SimCity 3000 and now SC4 as well. I think this one is overrated. It´s OK and a little different than the other games but becomes very quickly boring.
Have a nice Friday.

Hi there Paul
Well, my first Sim City game was Sim City on a SNES, I loved that game to bits. Then came SimCity 2000 and I didn´t much like it. You couldn´t zoom in close enough to see enough details. I much prefer SimCity 3000, which in my opinion is easier to play than the 2000. Now I own SC4 but apart from the effects, I don´t think much of it and prefer to play on SC3000.
I have had The Sims from the beginning and got all Extension packs but have realised that the "Vacation" add-on slows down the game considerably. So I uninstalled it. Then I bought "Unleashed" and got so annoyed with all those strays wandering into my home and blocking the entrances that I uninstalled that one too. Now I only have the EPs up to HD and have never been happier playing. I would have liked it if Maxis had given the choice to either include the strays in the game or not, as a patch or choice on the CD. Hopefully this might still be rectified. I won´t bother with Superstars when that one comes out. Enough is enough, it takes long enough for the Sims to load as it is.
Nice talking to you. Have a nice evening (or whatever time of day it is where you are).

Hi Tal
I have to agree with you regarding the price. Maxis pride themselves that they are still able to sell all the Sims games at full price, which I find a cheeky. I would have considered buying the Deluxe add-on, although I have the Sims plus LL, but not for the full price. Other games come down in price after a year or so but The Sims still cost the same as in the beginning. I don´t like that either.

Cool, I have to admit, that's a lot of games. I'm not sure if it's larger than my list or not (maybe I should make one), although I've beaten a lot more of my games.
<Warning! Warning! Shameless plug ahead!>
I'm currently working on a huge adventure game project that has about 90 or so different members. It's really far along and so much work has been put into it already, that's almost guaranteed to be released. The project is called Hero6.

For 1 thing i bought the sims each xpack for 2 dollars each and didnt like it much .i mean it is fun to play until u dont have everything.I like simulations but not that kind of simulations.Simulations as in battle sims .also i like action and adventure.
The Sims is fantastic for a week, then it just gets too repetitive. And it is a bit dated now, though sales wouldn't back me up on that!
I would agree with Sabreboy! I have played The Sims,-vacation,-livi'n large,-house party and hot date!
SabreBOY?!?!?
I'm a man...on thursday (the big 18 is coming up...time to get wasted!).
