The Dink Network

Catacombs (The)

Description
This D-Mod is mainly intended as a demonstration of the Tranfer D-Mod (allowing you to transfer all your stats/weapons from the original game to this one). Hopefuly it's fun in it's own right too though. But if you downloaded this without the Transfer D-Mod, You'll miss out on the main point of this D-Mod.

Storyline: King Daniel asks Dink to investigate the disappearance of several miners in a silvermine that has been reopened. You have to find out what is going on and take care of it.
This D-mod comes with a Transfer (trans101.exe) that you can use to transfer stats from the original Dink Smallwood to this one. It is easy to use, just run it. The only other thing you have to do is rename the saved game into save99.

Map and graphics: Mapping is done nicely. There are some new graphics, such as a ballast dredge, which are done nicely.

Music: The music is good and fits the situation.

Good: The way the mine is set up is good. There are several miners, you can buy and sell things and you can even bet on some bonca fighting. The cracks, holes and bottomless pits are done nicely. When you come to a deeper level, the colours of the rocks are modified.
A hints.txt is enclosed, but actually you do not need it.

Not so good: When you import a saved game, you start immediately somewhere in the mine, so you miss out on the intro. When starting in this way, you have a ridiculous small view due to the lantern. The deeper level of the mine is a maze in which you can get lost quite easily and it gets a bit boring too.

Overall: A nice D-mod, with the extra feature of Transfer.

Fit for: Anyone who likes mazes.
