Updated File: Dink.ini Rewrite v1.1
Posted by Tal on Friday February 11th, at 12:00 AM
The mysterious being they call DraconicDink has updated his Dink.ini Rewrite to version 1.1. Going through the readme, it seems like most of what he changed is just in the readme/credits files, but at a measly 12 kilobytes it couldn't hurt to download it again, right?

Update: Pardon me. In a comment from DraconicDink: "Well, actually the Dink.ini file has had quite a few unused sprites that were missing in version 1.0 added."

New D-Mod: Goblin Castle
Posted by Tal on Friday February 11th, at 12:12 AM
Akamb - who, as you may notice, has no Dink Network account - has submitted Goblin Castle, in which Dink is called by the king to assist in keeping goblins away from Goodheart Castle. But wait, I thought this was supposed to be about a goblin castle... that's not the greatest issue at hand, however. By not signing up for an account, Akamb has been deemed THE ULTIMATE BLASPHEMER!!

Or not.

New D-Mod: Impossible Scenarios
Posted by Tal on Friday February 11th, at 12:18 AM
NamH666, some odd pillbug fellow you may have heard of before, has released his second D-Mod, the ominously-titled Impossible Scenarios. Well, perhaps "ominous" is too strong a word... but it's a totally rad word, dude. And along with my totally rad word comes this totally gnarly description:

"Impossible Scenarios for you to do! WARNING! NOT FOR THE WEAK OF HEART! VERY VERY DIFFICULT! Make sure you read the READMEFIRST.txt file! ENJOY! gk hf dd ka"

I'm not sure what to make of the end of that, but I think it means, "Get killed. Have fun. Die, darling. Keep apples."

New Graphics: Debris and Evil Houses
Posted by redink1 on Sunday February 13th, at 07:44 PM
El SimonK the Pirate has launched two new graphics packs off to the safe harbor here at The Dink Network. The Debris pack contains the battered and broken fate of some land-lubber objects, while Evil Houses is more evidence why the life on the sea is the only way to be. Enjoy these vast treasures, arr!

New D-Mod: Apex v2.0 Alpha
Posted by Tal on Monday February 14th, at 07:17 PM
From the almighty man who brought you Bishop's Quest, Hance, comes our newest D-Mod offering, an alpha version of Apex. From skimming through the description, I'd say this is something about golden eggs, golden rocks, oh, and a kingdom named Apex, ooh ooh and maybe a flaming goose too! Ok, honestly, I didn't see anything about a flaming goose. If the title's any indication, though, perhaps you should all cower in fear. Have you heard of those Apex-brand DVD players? Yeah, they're quite awful and unstable. Once, my pal Josh got an Apex DVD player for his birthday or some such occasion, and I let him borrow the first Lord of the Rings movie. And the DVD player decided that it was the supreme Lord of the Rings, for it created many rings on the bottom of the movie disc, rendering it worthless. That annoyed me quite a bit.

Here's hoping hance's D-Mod is more stable than that!

Updated D-Mod: Search for Mother v1.20
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday February 23rd, at 07:34 PM
Suspected werewolf Lunacre howled by today and left Search for Mother v1.20 on my doorstop. Again. I heard him growl something about the introduction being fixed this time, but he had a bloody appendage between his teeth, which made him a little hard to understand, and I was too embarrassed to say anything.

New D-Mod: Stupid Penguins
Posted by Tal on Wednesday February 23rd, at 08:08 PM
Penguin lovers unrejoice! Carrie, master of stupidity, has unleashed an anti-penguin D-Mod that'll leave you quaking in your boots: Stupid Penguins. Apparently, the goal is to exterminate the flightless birds to prevent them from further administering their excrement. Left-wing and right-wing penguins alike are bound to waddle in horror upon hearing of this foreign attack.

Disclaimer: I was kidding about the "master of stupidity" line. I think. No, really Carrie, I'm only kidding. Heart! <3

Awards: MADNESS
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday February 23rd, at 09:52 PM
The December 2004 Download of the Month is patiently awaiting your votes! Way back in December there weren't many files released, as it immediately followed the Great Server Crash of Ofer. But, you do have to choose between Ric's drink mixing guide (Blendtut), Carrie's skull-brain-mind-numbing look into the socio-economic principles of trans-dimensional commerce of the early 17th century (Golden Buddha) or Mr. Werewolf's jab at a D-Mod (Search for Mother).

No, that's not all! I decided to go MAD (hence the capitalized title) and do the Download of the Year 2004 nominations this week as well! As Tal would say, "I like cheese."

The 2004 D-Mod DOTY has quite a few entries, too many for me to list here. I mean, I got the dang thing working (hopefully), spending 3 hours making links doesn't sound fin. Or fun.

The 2004 Dev DOTY also has quite a few entries, a small enough amount that I *should* list them here, but read the above paragraph again please, and replace 3 hours with 42 minutes.

And finally... the 2004 Misc DOTY. What, no linky? See, there happened to be a whopping FIVE Misc files released last year. The whole point of the nomination process is to whittle down the number of files to 5, and because whittling down to 5 FROM 5 doesn't make any sense, I'm just going to throw all 5 Misc files into the Final voting.

Voting ends sometime between March 1st and March 2nd!

SimonK the Pirate stopped by the shrores of Monte Cristo the other day and dug up some skelytons to find these vast treasures: Fiery Phoenix, Gryphon, and Green Walls.

Survey: D-Mod Usability
Posted by redink1 on Thursday February 24th, at 08:41 PM
I am currently conducting a 5 question survey on the usability of installing and playing D-Mods. If you could do this by Saturday or so, I would be very appreciative.

Also, if anyone has any other suggestions on how to make playing and installing D-Mods fun and easy, please post a comment. Thanks!

Updated Dev File: Skeleton S v2.1
Posted by Tal on Saturday February 26th, at 09:35 PM
Coming a.. very long time after the initial release, Joshypoo has updated his Skeleton S (also known as "Skeleton Whatever") to v2.1. The dink.ini is updated slightly, and a FAQ with questions that may or may not have been frequently asked has been shoved into the readme.

New Graphics: Dragons and a Goddess
Posted by redink1 on Monday February 28th, at 10:23 PM
Mr. SimonK has birthed two new graphics packs for budding D-Mod developers: Legend's Tale Dragon and Moa - Female Winged Goddess. As for the birthing process... I wish SimonK never sent me that video. I mean, it wasn't so much a birthin... wait...
