Contest: Evil Hero D-Mod Deadline Extended
Posted by redink1 on Monday June 2nd, at 03:13 PM
I only received two D-Mods for the Evil Hero D-Mod Contest, even though three were completed in time. The third wasn't sent correctly due to extenuating circumstances.

After consulting with Tal, we decided to extend the deadline to June 18th PST. Must arrive before that day begins, and so on.

For those people who have already submitted D-Mods (Binirit and Magicman): feel free to work on your D-Mods some more and submit updated versions, if you want to.

Remember: there is a prize, and there haven't been many entries... so you could always make a really quick D-Mod between now and the deadline in an effort to win

Ask Tal: If at first you don't succeed..
Posted by Tal on Saturday June 7th, at 10:00 AM
Then try a different method, of course!

Yes folks, after much begging and pleading from fellow Dinkers, I have decided to bring Ask Tal back. However, it will not be in a weekly format as it once was; rather, it'll be more like Recondite in that it appears at random intervals (but hopefully more often).

Why no weekly format, you ask? Well, as we all learned from the first generation of Ask Tal articles, it's amazingly difficult to gather 5 good questions from Dinkers in only a week. When I said that I'd answer just about anything, people began to submit awkward, ridiculous inquiries, ranging from sexuality questions to questions written in binary. With this in mind, I've decided to only post an Ask Tal article when I can answer five decent questions. I'm positive that things will be much better this way.

I'm hoping that this works... and remember, if you want it to succeed, then you can support me by asking your wild, wild questions. If all goes well, expect the first Brand New Ask Tal soon enough... but first, after my mouth heals from surgery, I'm going to be chillin' with my homies. A lot.

The submission form is in the comments!

I know I wanted to do something today, humm, what was it...dang..OH! It's that time of the month again to vote for you favorite downloads released this month! So, to get started go here and select one of those awesome files (or 'none' if they all sucked the lemon), and wait the results on the 15th! (Assuming we don't forget or all drop dead of SARS)

Also, don't forget to have you d-mod entires in by the 18th and also, AskTal a nice question, and make sure it is good. I can't wait for the first come-back article.

Ask Tal 10: Back from the Grave
Posted by Tal on Wednesday June 11th, at 08:16 PM
I couldn't resist.

As I mentioned a few days ago, I've decided to resurrect the cult favorite (..sorta) among Dinkers where questions of all sorts were asked, Dink-related or not, and answers.. were given, some serious and some nutty. The response so far seems to be fairly positive, and while my Box O' Questions isn't overflowing by any means, I'm receiving more questions than I anticipated. That, of course, is a good thing in my eyes. It smells of success, which rhymes with "suck less", and in this case the revival of Ask Tal will suck less than I thought.

It seems as though I've only been receiving Dink-related questions so far, however, and I'm not able to put my odd sense of humor to much use when that happens. Feel free to ask anything you please; it doesn't have to be Dink-related at all. However, unlike the last time AT ran, I am willing to ignore any questions that are absurd or downright dumb. Insults in foreign languages, questions in binary, and inquiries regarding sexuality just aren't gonna cut it this time, among other things. To sum things up: Don't be afraid to ask anything, but keep in mind that I may not reply. Now then... to the comments section for the article!

Edit: Bleh, I was totally outta the swing of things, and I wrecked the dang article. All should be well now..

New D-Mod : The Search for the Green Mushroom
Posted by Kyle on Thursday June 12th, at 04:17 AM
Glenn has just released his new romp The Search for the Green Mushroom to the public. It's very small as a download and it doesn't take long to finish so I suggest you get it now. Maybe do a review on it or send him some feedback but don't sit there just staring at the screen!

New D-mod, Glenn strikes again! : Revenge of the Pigs
Posted by Kyle on Friday June 13th, at 10:10 AM
Glenn has released a second d-mod in one day. Okay, so I couldn't upload it anymore last night, sue me.
It deserves credit to finish 2 d-mods in one day... Since you all seem to have enjoyed The Search for the Green Mushroom, why not give Revenge of the pigs a try as well, huh? It's in no way related to Revenge of the Ducks, just so you know.

I haven't tried it yet, by the way, so there's no guarantee you'll like it as much as you liked the other one.... Either way, let yourself be taken away and download Glenn's little gift right now.

Awards: May Voting has Ended
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday June 18th, at 07:57 AM
Voting for the May 2003 Download of the Month has now ceased, and the victor is Nitronic's Eternal Suicide Chapter Zero : Wasted Life. Congratulations! There were only 4 votes between it and World of DinkC, which got 2nd place. Thanks to everyone who released files and voted.

Contest: Evil Hero D-Mod Entries Available
Posted by redink1 on Wednesday June 18th, at 09:43 AM
Well, maybe I should extend the deadline at the last moment for every contest, because we got 2 new late entries for a total of 5 new D-Mods for the contest. And here they are, in alphabetical order:

Beginning of Evil: Magicman's 2nd D-Mod deals with the beginning of evil, as is implied in the name.

Computer Virus: This is Blue's first D-Mod, and I assume it deals with a computer virus of some sort, as a description wasn't included.

Mayhem: Paul Pliska's 4th D-Mod is an arcadey experience where you must prevent some oppressed peasants from taking over.

Rascal: This is blackduke's first D-Mod. Unfortunatly, there wasn't a description included with this D-Mod either.

Twins: And finally, Binirit's 3rd D-Mod has you 'save the world from being saved' by aiding the Good Mistress' goal to destroy the world.

Thanks to everyone for entering. I haven't checked any of the entries to see if they followed the rules, and I'll post a comment if I find any rule-breakers.

Updated D-Mod : A Knight's Tale
Posted by Kyle on Thursday June 19th, at 09:27 AM
In the midst of all the excitement brought about by the 5 entries in the Evil Hero contest, comes the long awaited update to A Knight's Tale by Sabretrout.

He says a multitude of bugs have been fixed and a new secret has been added. Aside from that he has made some minor changes to other stuff.

It's a short d-mod and if you didn't feel like playing it the first time or you just feel like playing it again, now's the time.

Glenn has updated his Revenge of the Pigs to version 1.1. He didn't inform me of the changes so if there were any bugs you'll just have to hope they have been solved in this patch.
