New/Updated Dev Files: Tullisti strikes again!
Posted by WC on Thursday January 2nd, at 02:09 AM
Tullisti has released a updated version of his graphics pack, and a little tutorial on how to apply palettes to graphics in GIMP (if you don't know what this is, you don't need it). In other news, if Tullisti sends me another file in .TGZ format I will stab him 50 times with a letter opener.

But anyways, I would also like to take this moment to thank my man Paul for the 15+ screen shots he sent in. For this I have sent him a free calendar! (I offered the fellow a shirt, but he said no.)

Updated Dev File: WinDinkEdit 1.2 FONT color="#FFFF00"*UPDATE*/FONT
Posted by WC on Friday January 3rd, at 06:19 PM
I figured it was about time to release version 1.2 of WinDinkEdit that does fix a few things and I spiced it up with a few updates. View comments to view changes, and don't forget the source code.

Update: After a dinker by the name of shampoo e-mail about a bug that I couldn't fix earlier, I relooked into it. After a few hours of playing, I was able to figure out how to fix the problem (yay). Thank. Shampoo.

Bad Dynamic4!
Posted by WC on Wednesday January 22nd, at 01:12 PM
As most of you noticed The Dink Network has been offline for the last 3-4 days. This occurred because of a problem with the unix server (the tech never gave us a straight answer what happened...the probably spilled coffee on them or something ) that cause then to have to take the whole unix side of gamespy down, causing us to have to just run off of the win2k side. Without the unix server, running any type of perl scripts (which the site runs mostly off of) is impossible. Sorry for the down time, but redink was kind enough to make a temporary files page (see, he's not totally lazy!). Let’s hope everything stays up. Untill then, if any weird things happen, try to ignore them, but if anything REALLY funny pops up, please notify me or redink.

The voting for the December 2002 Download of the Month has ended. Congratulations are in order for Binirit and Sabretrout, as their D-Mods Dink Smallwood's Christmas and Plane Walker Demo tied with 5 votes each.

The DOTY voting should begin soon, maybe tomorrow.

Awards: Download of the Year Nominations Started
Posted by redink1 on Thursday January 23rd, at 07:22 PM
It is time to decide the best D-Mod, Development File, and Miscellaneous File of 2002. There were actually quite a few D-Mods and Development Files released last year, though not too many Miscellaneous Files.

As for predictions... everyone thinks that a certain D-Mod (Baywatch Isle) will win the D-Mod DOTY award... but I think the lesser appreciated Pilgrim's Quest might be able to get a couple more votes.

DOTY voting is a tad different from DOTM voting. DOTY voting begins with a week of nominations, where everyone picks up to 5 of their favorite entries in each category. Then, the top 5 overall are voted on for the second week. If you have any questions, post a comment.

Recondite Eighteen: Future Events
Posted by redink1 on Sunday January 26th, at 02:17 PM
Recondite is my article, and is supposed to be weekly (though it is never released on a schedule) and is usually a whole lot of crazy rants, stories, poll comments, and links.

This week, I give my opinion on the 'spamming problem', duplicate accounts, and Miasma 2. Oh, and of course some whacky links.

Site News: Mirror trashed
Posted by WC on Monday January 27th, at 01:23 PM
If you haven’t noticed, The WCNET is down…when will it return? Never. I have asked redink to take down the links, but our king is lazy so they will be back down in the next week or so. Due to ISP issue’s the site had to be terminated. Sorry if anyone cared. I could get a host, but the only real users are dinkers, and I’m not going to buy a host just for that. So everyone rejoice that File Planet is here.

Me and redink would like to apologize for the massive editing for this post. We have cleaned it up since Tal had to go and complain.
