Reply to Pushable Objects distance to edge?

I managed to make a couple of scripts to allow rocks and barrels to be pushed anywhere on the screen. The non-permanent ones work great, but the permanent ones are an issue. They can cause insane hardness errors at the edges.
Mainly I was wondering how far everyone thinks the player should be able to push these. All the way to the edge, or stop at some point earlier?

I'll probably be releasing these as part of a file with some other drop anywhere type scripts, like holes and boulders.
