I use a Dell XPS M1210 which is great for me. It has 2 CPUs (2Ghz), loads of RAM and Nvidia graphics so it handle pretty much whatever I throw at it.
Depending on what you use it for, you don't need anything too fancy. Shop around a bit for a good price as well, don't buy it directly from Dell or HP or whoever. Try eBay perhaps?
