Hmm, you might have a point there (although I imagine it's much worse with games than it is with books). I can't think of much other than solitaire (and the likes) or a rally game..

I guess part of the problem is that a quality game has to make much more money to cover for its costs - and you can't sell by saying "Well we got this great storyline". Instead, you stick big guns (and big guns) in the game box and it'll sell like never seen before.

EDIT: I came up with sports games, too. But it's not that weird after all - what more is there to human life than more or less meaningless competition in sports or warfare, friendship and love, and the occasional sexual content? Little (except for watching movies or playing games)
