In my opinion it's probably best to do a short D-Mod first - one that has chance of being finished! I'm working on my first (proper) D-Mod at the moment which is about a Romp->Quest size. When working on various plots I discovered that I had a few epics on my hands, so I decided to do one where the end was actually in sight.
For me, learning DinkC doing a smaller D-Mod (rather than being completely in over my head in an epic!) seemed a much better way to go.
Depending on your experience in D-Modding (is that a word?), it might be best to work by yourself on a small sized D-Mod first. (Like me
