Ah... I thought you were further along. Once you get up to the cliffs, keep moving west (left) above the trees. Then go south... and that should help a bit.
Also, you probably have to talk to the Tinker. From the cliffs, go east until you're north of the trees, after which there should be a path leading south to The Tinker.
