Cricket is popular, but it's not exactly high on our list. First comes rugby, then rugby league, then soccer. Cricket comes in at a distant fourth or fiveth.

As for the NZ team, the Black Caps... they seem to be on and off. The are on when it comes to ODIs, but off when it comes to the harder form of the game, Test matches. They certainly aren't doing that well against South Africa at the moment.

At first I was wondering where you came from, since you mentioned cricket, which isn't much of a common topic here, but then I looked in your profile and I saw that you came from India, which explained it. To quote my Indian flatmate: "Cricket is as big in India as rugby is here in New Zealand." And rugby is huge here. In fact NZers almost seem to think our international team, the All Blacks, have a God-given right to win every competition and game they take part in.
