Wasted an hour or two tracking down a bug in Dink.exe where a seemingly OK 22K 8bit mono PCM file would crash the game on load_sound(). Made the file with WavePad. A WAV made with Sound Recorder worked file. The solution? Open the bad wave file in Sound Recorder and save it again.

Thanks, DirectX. You rock hard.
