If you don't have an account, just leave the password field blank.
Get a sound card with MIDI on-board. Most standard newer video card use software MIDI, they load MIDI instruments from the instrument file GM.dls instead of from a chip on the sound card.
Other than that, I don't really know a fix. Maybe find a different dls file on the internet which can replace the original MIDI GM.dls and is smaller than the original GM.dls... That would certainly work faster.
