redink1: "As it is, Windemere won't be backwards compatible, and it is unlikely that many D-Mods will be ported, so Linux Dink would fill a permanent need."
Agreed
igloo15: "unfortunately from looking at windmere and its abilties i think it would be better if dink was closed and windmere became more dominant I just think that the windmere abilties are just so much more and dink will always be buggy and tough to make things work."
But then there are ~200 (maybe ~300 now?) D-Mods that can't be played in Windemere. Regardless of how old some of them are, they still represent a major part of the replayability of Dink. I also wouldn't count on tons of mods for Windemere.. the D-Modding community's really taken a dive in recent times, and I have my sincere doubt that Windemere would be enough to rekindle (?) desires to toil away.
Do I make sense? I've got a mind-numbing headache.
