I try to limit my game "pirating" to games that are no longer available through any retail outlet (excluding junk stores and such, where obviously the developers don't make any money from used game sales). If the publishers and developers are both deceased, or if neither are distributing an old game any longer, then as far as I can see it's not hurting anyone.
