I wrote it for a Creative Writing class.
Could this aspect of the story convince a person who has contemplated mutilation or sadomasochism or enforce the feeling of control of the person who has already done the deed to feel they are a stronger or better person if they just slice a little now and then or break a bone ocassionally.
I'd certainly hope not. I'm not one who is into mutilation at all, and I wouldn't really contemplate it. It seems like someone would be far more influenced by Fight Club (book or movie), as that seems a lot more convincing.
The thumbtack being poked into the wood? terrific symbolism. Shudder
Hmm... what symbolism did you see here?
