Man, you guys are kinda rough on the neophytes at times. If you want to get them to stay, you have to treat them with a mixture of disdain and indifference... nobody likes to be yelled at though.

WC, from what I've seen, doesn't yell at people who are totally new. Instead, he reserves his wrath for those who should know better or, well, anyone who pisses him off.

My point is, a noob shows up, sees WC roasting Kory, and realizes that although he doesn't have respect yet, he's better off than some.

This is how forums work. Noobs aren't scared off because they see that trolls recieve the brunt of the forum's rage, but at the same time, they aren't bored because re5pect does not come instantly.

Its like a woman: if she's too loose, no one will want to go out with her, if she's totally unapproachable, no one will want to go out with her.

That's a horrible analogy which is neither true nor analogous. Never the less, my point is, go easy on the noobs: don't respect them, but don't yell at them, and they'll stick around.
