Well, we've always had themed contests, but there's really no need for that.

Having an element to focus on, like story, would do just as well in my opinion. It may be subjective, but I guess having the staff as judges always results in subjective results.

I disagree that a good story is not required for a good d-mod however. In fact, I DO agree with the statement that no d-mod has yet benefited from an exceptional story as the main highlight of the game. So, we see high scores for d-mods with a generic story and think that a story is not required for a good d-mod.

Suppose now that a d-mod with an exceptional story comes up and the gameplay elements are above standard as well, what score will you want to give it? 11/10? We may never know.

Having said that, I'm a bit biased as I've been working on a huge, detalied and involving story myself and I hope to one day make a d-mod out of it. Dink may ultimately not be fitted for story-driven games, but there's only one way to find out, isn't there? I'm going to continue working on it and once Windemere has been released I intend to get back to Dink editing (which I haven't done anymore in a long time).
