The asnwers:
Negative (or zero) strength just mean you do no damage. Slightly interesting because at even one strength you have a 50% chance of doing a single point of damage even if your enemy is insanly tough.
Netative magic does drain or mana, but unfortunatly the display doesn't show this correctly.
And, bonus, negative defense increases damage taken.
