Actually, Simeon, that's not correct. Fahrenheit is based on bodily temperatures. Gabriel Daniel Fahrenheit based zero on the temperature obtained from mixing equal parts water, ice, and salt. The 100 degree mark was set to the natural human body temperature. It was later discovered that 100 was a bit too hot, so it was modified into 98.6.
